Avaliação da contribuiçãoThis once popular venue has been closed for about 2 months, no reasons given , has been some movement in re-arranging furniture, however most disappointing after the last full on re-opening serval months ago , the place is totally deserted of staff/trades people and or regulars , disappointing Moors Head !Peter
Second visit - this time Sunday brunch. My broccoli et al salad was healthy and fresh - but even though I like my coffee not too hot, even this was only luke warm. My hubbie had an omelette on toast which he said was bland. He hated the coffee. I'd probably go back for coffee as my first visit mid week was fine - think it might be dependent on who's on the machine. The staff were ok but not particularly attentive or efficient. I noticed the cushioned seating against the wall in the main section of the dining area was very stained and looked shabby - I didn't think this was a good look for a new place. There's lots of cafe competition on the Glenhuntly Road strip now so might need to attend to these details of appearance, good staffing and reliable coffee making.
We came here for Sunday lunch and were delighted with the service and with the food. Their smashed avocado with fetta, lemon and mint on sourdough toast was fresh and delectable. "The golden terrace" pizza was fresh, the crust was just right - crisp on the outside and hot and squashy on the inside - with a delectable topping of flavoursome spiced mince with freshly sliced tomatoes and blanched almonds sprinkled with sumac. We shared our meals and had a truly delightful lunch. This place is clearly a well-kept secret as it was quiet and uncrowded, and the staff were happy to turn the background music down for us "hard of hearing". Thank you Moor's Head South for a very good dining experience - we're locals and we'll be back for sure.
Glad to have Moor's Head now in Elsternwick, as well as Thornbury. Good ambience, together with warm and friendly staff, who serve very fresh and tasty Middle Eastern food in a simple non fuss manner. Yummy starters with magnificent pita. Mains are very filling, long and round pizzas, which are a taste sensation with every bite. Just yum! A small but good selection of wine and other drinks. A good place for lunch and or dinner at reasonable prices. Until next time...
My wife and I just finished eating att the Moor's Head restaurant, our first visit. And what a splendid meal we had! The salads were excellent (we ordered a cabbage, mint and soused onion one). The two small plates we ordered were eggplant and braised tomato and capiscum( very good) and walnut and fetta stuffed small peppers (delicious). Two pides/pizzas followed and both were of good quality and very large servings: an Istanbuli pide (Pumpkin, spinach and caramelised onion) and a Saladin one (red pepper, pomegranate, lane, mint, walnut and many other ingredients). The flavors were strong and attractive; this is a place for people who like their for vivid and spiced. I enjoyed a glass of Lebanese red wine as well. The service was prompt and friendly and the prices were reasonable. A bright, simply furnished dining room made for a pleasant atmosphere.
