Portone Pizza - Glen Eira

Good tasty pizzasI've only gotten delivery a couple of times, but they're always tasty gourmet style pizzas.

If I were basing this review on the quality of the pizza alone, it would be getting 5 stars.

(Note: review is for takeaway pizza, not for actually dining in the restaurant).

We are currently doing a mini tour of all pizza places in our area and Portone is definitely the best I've had so far! Thin, italian style bases, high quality ingredients and a mix of traditional and creative, unusual toppings these pizzas are a winner. We had a bufalina margarita and a zucca (leeks, pumpkin and feta). Both, despite being too extremes, were excellent. Margarita had a gorgeous cheese, balanced carefully with the tomato sauce. I was dubious about the flavours on the zucca, but the leeks were soft and worked beautifully with the pumpkin and feta - the cheese again being the hero. At over $20 each the pizzas certainly aren't the most affordable but the quality makes it worth it. I could have taken them apart and eaten every ingredient on their own and still loved them!

Turkish bread and dips delicious as a starter and a pizza to share ample for two people. Friendly and efficient service. $10 pizzas on Wednesdays!
