So sorry to not recommend this establishment...bland food, sterile atmosphere, nice staff, difficult parking.
This place could be much, much better. The food is ok, but the service and ambiance could be elevated. All the tables around us were dirty. There was only one server on a Saturday afternoon and she seemed really lost. Also, they have like 10 TVs in there. I don't understand why? Not a good experience... On the bright side, the portions are big so you can share and it's pretty inexpensive. But definitely not as good as in Chicago...
We loved this place before it became popular, then the service went downhill because the restaurant didn 't hire enough staff to fill customer 's needs. I used to love the Asian flavored ice cream (green tea, black sesame, lychee) but then there was a period when there was no ice cream at all. When I was told that the supplier no longer had those flavors, I suggested Fosselman 's (in Alhambra). The restaurant supposedly went there and the flavors returned. Now, the reataurant does not have those flavors any more, just traditional vanilla and strawberry, and macaroons. We were told that the refrigeration system could not keep the ice cream cold enough to keep it from melting. I don 't believe it. The food this time was a disappointment, also. Apparently, they changed chefs, which explains why the food tastes different now. A favorite of ours, Mapo Tofu, is now like an oil based soup ... not good (never seen, nor tasted anything like it). Overall, it was disappointing this time.
Love the food but this place has become very popular so it's more crowded. Service has been going downhill because there are not enough people to service the customers adequately. Owners, please hire more staff to service the customers or you will lose business. I have been avoiding the place because of the worsening service. Don't get me wrong, I still love the food and the staff has been very nice ... just not enough of you (staff).
