Virgilio's Italian Bakery - Gloucester

This is hands down the best Italian bakery I have ever experienced! The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. They offer a wide selection of delicious and indulgent pastries, as well as mouthwatering sandwiches. You absolutely have to check it out!

Virgilio's is a beloved fixture in Gloucester and arguably the best sandwich shop around. While they offer a wide variety of classic subs and sandwiches like you’d find anywhere, the real standouts are the ones exclusive to Virgilio's. My absolute favorite is the St. Joseph sandwich—it’s simply irresistible. However, don't miss out on the rest of the menu, especially the North Ender with its balsamic vinegar and the Porky Joe for those who love pulled pork. If you're into pastries, Virgilio's boasts an impressive selection that I haven't had the chance to sample fully yet. But if you're looking for a guaranteed delight after your sandwich, definitely grab a cannoli. Gloucester has plenty of options, but you should not miss the opportunity to try something from Virgilio's when you can!

The pastries and sandwiches here are absolutely excellent! If I lived nearby, I’d probably be visiting every day!
