We ate here many times over the 6 days we visited and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The service was great and the atmosphere a bonus. Great prices. Highly recommended
You need to find this cafe and enjoy its relaxing atmosphere, from the outside area on the water to the inside with cosy lounges and an old atmosphere. The owners and staff are great and the food and coffee is good. Easy to spend an afternoon reading here.
Being retired on the Gold Coast, I spend a fair proportion of my time looking for hidden gems, and this is one of them. REaD ticks most of the boxes in things I look for in cafes. It is themed as a bookshop/library/writer's retreat, but is also for anybody like me who appreciates a good coffee, and is particular about the overall ambiance of a place. I liked the variety of styles of seating areas, from comfortable lounges, classy table setups, and casual outside options. A separate bar with stools is off to the side. The setting on the water, with a shaded eating area is hard to beat. The service is pleasant and efficient. The menu is limited, with pizzas, quiches and cakes the menu staples, but I found even that was a pleasant change from the standard coffee shop fare.REaD deserves to succeed. The unknown is how people will find out about it, being tucked away in the Paradise Island Resort, which is (only slightly) off the beaten track. The cafe is only 100m from Q1 and the Surfers Paradise G station. I guarantee that those who make the discovery will be hooked!
Met friends here this evening - what a haven from the business of Surfers! It's only been open a month or so apparently. The position is lovely, right on the river and a lovely breeze on a hot day! As far as alcohol is concerned, they only serve wine, beer
