Avaliação da contribuiçãoLovely spot nice ambience, but the food disappointed. A starter of the 3 smallest scallops on PEI! One halibut entree was mushy, although the the rosati was tasty. A unique but poor Caprese salad. Small portion of mussels.do NOT go if you are hungry! Fine dining can be more generous. Just needs to "up it's game " a little
The Pearl is a regular stop on our island visits, our one vacation splurge. If you are looking for a bargain this is not the place. But the food usually matches the prices. The service has always been great and this meal was no exception. There is also a good wine list and selection of beer and other drinks. But the meal was only 50-50. As in one meal was excellent and the other mediocre. The braised lamb shoulder was outstanding. It came in a flavourful, rich mushroom and bacon sauce with tasty garlic mashed potatoes. The vegetables were crunchy and flavourful.Alas, the Blue Dot ribeye steak and lobster tail fell short. The steak was thin and tough, the lobster tail a little too chewy. At $48 per plate, a far better cut of steak needs to be provided, not to mention a better hand at cooking the lobster. The desserts - a beet chocolate brownie and carrot cake - met the usual Pearl standard.Given our past experience, we are chalking this one up to a bad night for the chef and perhaps the person buying the day's meat.
My cousin's colleague recommended this place for my birthday dinner and I have to say we were a bit disappointed. The good: try the red sangria it's delicious. We did enjoy the complimentary bite from the chef it was outstanding and I was hoping that was an indication of what was to come. We started with the oysters which I do recommend however the shucking was not done perfectly and I could do without the edible flowers although the presentation was beautiful. The lemon sauce served with it was different but great. The service by Amy was impeccable and the atmosphere romantic. The Arctic char special stuffed fish was fantastic and I highly recommend you try it. The roasted veggies were also terrific. Good wine list I recommend the Reserve Malbec. The not so good: 3 of us ordered the sirloin/lobster tail and we were all extremely disappointed in the steak quality. There was just as much gristle as there was overcooked steak. My husband and cousin enjoyed their lobster tail and mine since I don't eat lobster. Honestly I was surprised at the small amount of entrees and the one in our group that ordered the fish made the right choice. The dessert selection was just ok we had the brownie and the apple cake. Not really impressed at all.
Went recently to celebrate my husband's birthday and the first signal we were going to be in for a good evening was the birthday card signed by all the staff (I didn't even remember that I had said it was his birthday when making the reservation so their attention to detail amazed me)Lovely warm room and friendly yet professional staff who provided great service. But it really is all about the food....right? Well, everything we had was delicious .....thoughtful in its presentation, complex in flavour, and just downright top notch. Thanks to all for a memorable evening....too bad we live in Ontario as this would have been our new favourite haunt
Ok so I have NEVER written a Trip Advisor review...actually I've never written a review for anything before! But after the experience at Pearl, I just HAD to. Tanya, chef Cobey and the whole crew are making WONDERFUL food and memories for their customers. This was our first ever trip to PEI, and this restaurant is one reason we would like to return. At first glimpse, we were pleasantly surprised by the quaintness of the house and the beautifully kept grounds. The interior was just as inviting and cozy. We were told they were booked solid downstairs but that the lounge was open upstairs. That room may have been better than downstairs! We had it all to ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed what Tanya had done to give it a rustic, modern feel. We could only order starters upstairs, but that was all we wanted as that menu offered everything we could want! Cucumber gazpacho, halibut ceviche and the best charcuterie board we have ever consumed! The highlight was probably the pickled spruce tips! I mean, who thinks of this kind of stuff?? Chef Cobey does, and his creativity shines through on every dish. To boot, Pearl's wine selection has to be some of the best on the island, and that's due to Tanya's desire to be unique and not carry what every other restaurant has. My partner and I consider ourselves to be foodies and we both agree, this will go down as a fantastic memory as we travel the world. Continued success to Pearl Eatery and Oyster Lounge! We can't wait to come back!
