Black Lion - Gwynedd

Lovely traditional pub situated in a beautiful area. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious and the general atmosphere is warm. We would definitely recommend this pub to anyone. There isn’t a lot of parking outside the pub but, there are a lay-bys/lanes you...can park on close by. There is a path along side the road too, so it’s safe and easy to get there if you can’t park right outside the door. Overall experience was great.

Visited on friends recommendation for Sunday Lunch. A small lovely proper pub tucked away in a row of terraced houses in Derwenlas , miles outside Machynlleth. Lovely frontage, very Christmas Ready at the moment , tastefully decorated . Low beams, warm glowing stove fire...and tucked away corners . Lovely and clean. Straightforward Sunday Lunch menu, plenty of choice meat or veggy. Quality food and generous portions , all well cooked and tasty. Staff efficient, welcoming and friendly. Particularly Nigel and his lady assistant. A good lunch in a lovely environment . Loved it and we will be back. We did manage a quick thanks to the very busy chef as we left. Recommend it. Lovely welcome on arrival, food was fantastic, good price for portions, ended up having to take some home as it was soo good… defo recommend … and be back again..

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Black Lion, the food was delicious. The team were friendly and it was a good place to relax and catch up over a good meal. It was quite busy when we were there, although that didn't slow the...kitchen down and our food came out at a reasonable pace. You need to be a little lucky with the parking, we managed to get a spot over the road. Its not difficult, just could be a bit awkward, don't let it put you off though, its well worth it.

Booked in for a meal for with friends last week. The menu was adapted very well to suit our requirements and have to say, we all enjoyed our meals, was delicious. Nigel and his staff were very attentative and looked after us all Nigel...even gave us a lovely bottle of wine to take back home and celebrate our anniversary. Will definitely return.
