Golden Fortune Restaurant - Halifax

When the Golden Fortune opened last year after extensive re-build I was very impressed with the décor, food and service.went back several times in the interim and found a gradual deterioration in the premises. The "Waterfall Feature" no longer works. The fish tank needs some maintenance.The must have changed cooks because the Cantonese Chow Mein serving was not good at all. Portion size reduced. Noodles were tasteless, very dry and stuck together. Usually there is six shrimp (we got ONE) very sparse serving of Chicken and vegetables. The Chicken Soo Guy had a hard crust of batter - the chicken was overcooked and dry. The gravy was of unknown flavor just a off white paste. All of the meal was a wasted $30.30 for two people.

We were at Golden Fortune the day they opened and have been back several times, including their first anniversary, today. We have dined as a couple and also as an extended family including small children. The food is fresh, the service is prompt and pleasant, and the restaurant is very attractively decorated and spotlessly clean. It is great to have an eatery like this practically in our neighbourhood.

First. Very clean and pleasant atmosphere.Next. Food is fresh, hot and consistently tasty. I have been told by my favorite server that all food is prepared fresh in house...but the food comes out so fast it is hard to believe, until the first taste....and it is always so good, fresh, hot and satisfying. I am blessed to have such good food so close to my home, AND...8$ lunch special! Instead of this **** called, "all you can eat!" listen friends and foodies, after an 8$ lunch special i am full...and i be almost 300lbs. The other specials for supper, i get with tea for less than 20$ after tip. I am always full and happy when i leave. I say come try this gem...never had a bad meal and have had many. Restaurant is under new management and renovated. The food is fresh and I think everything is made in house. Prices are very reasonable with lots of selection including combo orders. Waitress was A+ and the atmosphere is friendly, bright and clean. Great location; only few parking spots out front but room in the back. If you are looking for Canadian Chinese food to fill you, taste good and at a reasonable price; I recommend you take your friends and family here. Oh and our meals were there promptly, considering cooking time.

My wife and I have dined in this new local Chinese restaurant four times:the food is excellent,the service is superb,the atmosphere is pleasant ,the price is fair and the restaurant is very clean including the toilet.There is free parking on premises front and back.
