We booked the Royal Oak for our dads wake. We asked if we could have a hot and cold buffet and were told this was no problem. All I can say is that it was EXCELLENT even to the point an extra vegan plate was made up for us on the spot, and food, oh there was plenty and delishious. Dad certainly got the send off he deserved, I can't thank everyone involved enough. SUPERB. Thank you!!
I had never considered The Oak as a dining option before, but we were recommended to go there today. The portion sizes were good, the prices were reasonable, and the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Although there was a slight issue with condiments, it was quickly resolved and did not affect the overall experience. This was my first time at The Oak and I would definitely recommend it for drinks as well.
I had been told great things about the Sunday Roast, so I decided to visit and try it for myself while watching football. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was quite good. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Yorkshire Pudding – it was perfectly crispy on top and wonderfully stodgy at the bottom. Although the mashed potatoes were tasty, I believe a traditional roast should only have roasted potatoes. The three roasted potatoes looked crispy but were a bit lacking. The beef wasn't of the highest quality, but it was cooked well. Considering the price (just under £7), the portion size was very generous. The local patrons and staff were all very friendly as well.
Popped in here as I had heard good things. It lived up to the expectation. Really friendly landlord, good food and a really nice vibe. Will definitely visit again.
