Avaliação da contribuiçãoThe food was freshly very well prepared. All dishes were good and also well served. The staff is very friendly. Georgian wines are super! Doning here is a good opportunity to taste Georgian cusine in Germany.
A wee bit out of town (a couple of tram stops from Steintor; at Christuskirche), but worth making the effort. Not a traditional looking place; in fact, with its big windows and mezzanine floor, it's quite a modern setting, but there's a relaxed atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It was pretty near full when we were there, which is a good sign for sure, and it's well set out, so there's no feeling of being crowded. The food was very good (we had a main course only) and the portions were adequate, with the meat being served in a separate dish so you could regulate your intake of sauce/gravy/juice to go with your rice (potatoes or vegetables as options). Howerver, the menu would be better, I think, if there were some veg side dishes offered in adition to rice or potatoes (instead of being alternative). Nevertheless, my partner was very kindly offered a combination of potatoes and veg, which was a nice concession. We had a bottle of Georgian wine (Kindzmarauli red; a Besini wine - look it up) and that was excellent, albeit sweeter than the 'halbtrocken' suggested. Would certainly go back, given the opportunity and an excuse.
I was a bit disappointed about the interior. I missed an authentic atmosphere which didn't really come up within the modern look of the place. The service was very friendly. The ordered starter was the highlight of the evening (grilled aubergine filled with a walnut paste) and best starter I've ever eaten (recommendable!). Therefore the main dish was ok but no great deal. We ordered the lamb because of the sauce with mirabelles in it which made me curious. Unfortunately I could'nt find any of them as well as I couldn't taste them. This night, there was a two-men-band performing Georgian music which was quite a nice idea but finally was so loud that you could hardly talk but almost had to shout. All in all it's nice for a change if you don't expect extraordinary flavours.
For fine taste the right place to let its taste be pampered. whether meat dishes, dishes with cheese, vegetables or vegan, the Georgian cuisine serves a variety of different flavors. So there's something for everyone. The Slick spears (very delicate and juicy at the same time) are particularly praiseworthy, which are refined with kartomes, baptisms, seasoned and as a special ingredient granate seed. they can be sure that what comes on the table is also really freshly prepared. that is what I find personally when I want to eat in a restaurant. as the name marani already says (georgian: weinkeller) they will meet here a generous selection of harvested weeps (usually Georgian weeps). So who wants to try something new and is a real noble is a visit to the maranie of me personally put into the heart.
In marani they get Georgian tasty. from slicks, over rice with vegetarian grill vegetables to wallnusskuchen. everything is extremely tasty and the portions are filled. the environment is family and cozy. the seating is available in the ground floor and at the top of the first floor. here they feel comfortable, we are very nicely served and receive first class recommendations of the house. the menu can be overlooked and not overloaded. I can recommend a visit in the marani. in any case reserve a table.
