Ku-ru Sushi Grill - Hickory

Service was good, food and kitchen inconsistent and slow. We put our order in within 15 minutes of being seated. It took over an hour to get our 3 rolls and kids meal. And the icing was our son got his food last. Not acceptable. A place that once had potential is now a disappointment.Food: 2/5

Had the atmosphere of either a new establishment or just young staff, not stellar but still comfortable.The food was good enough to shadow the rest of the experience! Had the steak and scallops teriyaki with ginger salad. The house ginger dressing was a pleasant surprise too.

All the staff was super friendly. Our host Kelly was super awesome who checked on us frequently. Sushi is the best in Hickory! Had a great experience here! We’ll definitely come back for more sushi!Food: 5/5

I don't like leaving negative reviews, but in this case after thinking about it- They chose to send out food that could make someone sick. My sashimi smelled. It was obvious they tried to sear the fish to cover up the smell but you can even see the color is off. Server was kind to replace with some cooked food.Food: 1/5

The fried crab sushi was overly fried and for $14 it was more almost burned breading then crab. I also got a shrimp based sushi (I'm horrible at remembering the names after the fact). That one was pretty good. Overall I wouldn't recommend their sushi. I'm sure for a town the size of Hickory there are other better options. I will add the server was great. If only the food matched their service.
