Avaliação da contribuiçãoBon appetit in Highton has been one of our semi regular lunch destinations for some time. It’s never been a ‘wow’ or ‘delicious ‘ kind of a place. of a place you go into hungry and come out sated but not moved to emotions...either way. This was never helped by one or two members of staff with who swing between disinterested and down right rude. This isn’t the case with all staff members but sadly you are always going to remember the faces and attitudes of unpleasant individuals who spoil it for everyone else. Well today was the very last time we will bother going. I would say it has been steadily heading downhill for sometime. I can now officially announce it has hit the bottom of that hill. It’s grotty...I believe they’ve given up on wiping the tables. They are sticky and have obvious old marks on them that are screaming out for a damp sponge. Food is uninspired and not pleasant...greasy chips and hash browns, a toasted falafel focaccia contained cold filling on a focaccia roll that had been toasted to the point that I began contemplating other uses for it. Maybe creeping back in the night and hurling it through the window or using it to prop up a leg on a wonky table...both preferable to risking broken teeth by actually eating it. This place is simply not worth your time or effort. It’s also not worth the money...everything is overpriced in light of the food and unpleasant (and generally grubby) aesthetics. Add to the fact the person in charge of writing on the glass fronted food fridge has opted to advertise a ‘red valvet ‘ cake. Whatever that is I’m sure it’s expensive, unpalatable and served on a dirty plate.
Menu offerings, decor and layout virtually the same since our last visit 6 months ago. Good coffee, reasonable service and good range of options but nothing beyond expectations. Orders need to be done at the register and food is taken to your table.
The staff are grumpy, terrible food. I much recommend the cafe next door which is much better. I asked if their salad was free of nuts and they said yes, ONE MOMENT LATER... I see peanuts and I'm like m8, TEACHER YOUR STAFF TO TELL...THE TRUTH BEFORE YOU KILL SOMEONE!
I enjoyed lunch here. I ordered a chicken schnitzel roll that was on display in the food cabinet. They toasted it for me and the roll was quite fresh. Salad was nice with not too much mayo so it was not soggy. Coffee was nice...and not too hot. I was passing by. I am not a local and will go back again if I’m in the area again. An enjoyable quick lunch.
Once or twice a week I walk my pup past Bon Appetit in Geelong. On Tuesday, decided to sit down and have a coffee, I sat at a table out the front, and waited. I was not looking at my phone, I was looking into...the cafe, I smiled at the Barista in the hope of service she smiled back, it was obvious I wanted service, and couldn’t go inside as I had my pup with me. The barista blatantly ignored me after that! The waitress walked outside, but in the opposite direction, did not acknowledge me, ignored me completely! I waited ten minutes, a long time when you want a coffee, then I left. No coffee, no service and completely disgusted at being treated that way. I will not put myself, or my friends, through such poor service. Remember this: one person has a bad experience at your cafe and knows ten people, those ten people know ten people, etc. How hard is it to pop out and say, “Hi, what can I get you?” If that was my business, I would hire staff with awesome customer service skills and dismiss the current staff!
