El Jefes Cafe Tostada

This is our go-to lunch spot every week with our grandson. He really enjoys his peanut butter and jelly, fruit, and eggs. I always order a Café con Leche, along with a selection of delicious sandwiches for my wife and me. Melissa and Natalie are fantastic, and Freddie really knows how to make you feel at home. It's a very kid-friendly place, as Freddie and the girls are wonderful with the kids.

This restaurant is one of the best in my area. The egg breakfast sandwich is outstanding, and the toasts and breakfast platter are also superb. Their Refreshers are excellent too. Compared to other places, my orders have always been accurate, complete, and served warm.

The portion size was disappointing. There was maybe one and a half eggs on the Cuban sandwich, and they were overcooked to the point of being almost completely brown. The ham was decent, but the bacon tasted as if it had been deep-fried. The sandwich was extremely dry, and I wouldn’t order it again even if it were only a dollar. I'm really let down.

We decided to stop by this restaurant on a whim while we were in the area, and I’m so glad we did! The Cuban bread was fantastic, and the cafe con leche was incredibly tasty. I ordered the turkey Cuban sandwich and added fries, which I highly recommend because they were perfectly crispy and delicious. We will definitely be returning soon!

I live in Pinellas County but make the drive here whenever I can, and it's always worth it. Today, I visited with my son, who is quite particular about food and restaurants (this was his first visit, although I had brought him a couple of breakfast sandwiches to-go from here last time), and he declared it his “favorite restaurant”! I consider myself to have a discerning palate as well. Every time I come here, the food is exceptional. I’ve tried the Ropa Vieja, which was outstanding, as well as the Cuban sandwich and the grilled chicken on Cuban toast, both of which were also excellent. The red beans were the best I’ve ever had, and my girlfriend, who is Colombian and knows her beans, completely agrees. I’ve sampled several other dishes here, and they have all been fantastic. In short, the food is amazing, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is delightful. I can’t wait to return!
