Avaliação da contribuiçãoHad dinner with a group. We ordered the Seafood and Pumpkin Thick Soup, Hargao, Sharksfin Dumpling, Siopao, Radish Cake with XO, Crispy Pork Belly, Sweet Sour Pork, French Beans with Garlic, Flat Noodles with Sate Beef, Chicken. Everything tasted very good. Service was good. Price is on the high side, but was made average by the credit card promo.
Only got to try Xiu now, and I've got to say, very impressive and definitely feels like a step up from the usual chinese places around Manila (of course, with a corresponding jump in price as well). Pretty much everything I tried was impressive, their suckling pig is definitely a start that is not very usual. It comes with a good kiampung at the bottom, and fried enoki mushrooms all around it. I would not really classify this as an appetizer anymore, this is a full on main course. It is pricey, but definitely something that will impress. Their suahe were very nice, their eel rice is particularly impressive. I am not usually a fan of eel, but this was incredibly tender, not a bone in sight, and really goes well with the rice. This is a pricey place, but it is a contender for the best chinese restaurant in manila.
Xiu has a lot to offer, a cantonese restaurant that serves good chinese food, it’s main competitors are gloria maris and choi garden. Although the price is relatively higher than the others, this restaurant puts a twist on its dishes. The ambiance is good.
The food was simply amazing! Ordered typhoon style crab, pumpkin and seafood thick soup (highly recommend), black ink rice (so good), fried noodles with bbq, and pork belly and bean curd with shrimp paste (the only item which is not that good but not bad either). Also recommend the lotus ball and mango sago as dessert items. Service and ambience were both good.
Taste 5; ambience 5; service 5; price 5: A perfect 5. Our favorite is probably the mixed mushroom with truffle (which may not be very Cantonese). Finally just the right amount of truffle. If ypu are used to the commercial Cantonese food with overwhelming flavors, this is not the place for that. The food tasted fresh and with just the perfect amount of flavor and sauce. Surely will return to try everything on the menu. Servers were very attentive and knowledgeable and made extra effort to keep the table clean. The changed plates often and also covered your top with napkins if your sauce spilled. The place looked bright and clean and the linens were very white. My worry was the price because for the expensive stuff like crabs, fish, and prawns which they priced per 100 grams in fhe menu, we only spent P700 per person less 20% for cash discount. I guess if you have the appetite of an athlete just right after a long game, you’ll have to budget maybe 1000, but for the quality and taste of the food, plus great ambience and service, it’s well worth it. Five stars!
