Avaliação da contribuiçãoSometimes I am fortunate to engage a core Italian experience that makes me feel this is the timeless world of my father's paese pleasure. Trattoria da Salvatore is a place I would love to put in my pocket and bring home to New York. It's as much about a kind, lively and charming family as it is engaging the treasure of the cucina populi. Accompanied by bottled water, a half litre of local red, and bread with EVOO my wife chose a primi of lasagna asparagus and I pici mushrooms and onion. The one was naturally creamy and the other a balance of crisp to tender. We shared a very satisfying plate (for two) of three tasty tender meats: pork. lamb and chicken. Never before have I enjoyed chicory as a distinctive vegetable with oil and a hint of pepperoncini. This I will try to reproduce at home. A Roman style artichoke contorni was equally tasty. We finished our meal sharing a very rich cheesecake Philadelphia topped with black cherries and two coffees. The price was extremely reasonable and we were further rewarded with a delightful local complimentary digestive cordial. This is the kind of food one fantasizes about cleaning the plate with taste buds. In dining here, there is a big problem, however. Whatever one chooses means everything else equally compelling must wait -in our case- for another six or seven visits in another life. It was like eating with good friends. I disagree with one writer who stated it is necessary to speak Italian. This is simply not the case. This familial style menu is varied and wonderful on so many scores. Trattoria Salvatore is a spirited and panoramic triumph of expression in Italian regional kitchen artistry! What a delightful pleasure awaits the adventurous diner.
A very small homely, family run restaurant, if you want to eat at weekends make sure you book. The food is very good, the prices are honest.
The food is homemade, the pasta is to die for. A charming couple runs the place and the service is exellent. Consistent good food and reasonable prices: The menu of the day is written on a blackboard. A quintessensial Italian experiense, all the way down to the red and white checkered tablecloths:
Porzioni abbondanti , buone e prezzi contenuti . Che vogliamo di più? Bravi !
