Amurita No Niwa - Ishigaki

This restaurant is amazing and definitely worth a visit. The staff are friendly and clearly take pride in preparing the food, as you can see them cooking from the opposite side. The atmosphere is wonderful, with interesting books and art inside. They also prioritize cleanliness, asking us to sanitize our hands and check our temperatures before entering. There are plenty of vegan options available; I tried the 5 bean soy milk curry and it was incredibly delicious and filling. I also ordered fried vegetables that were crispy and seasoned perfectly (they offer steamed vegetables for a healthier option). If you're not vegan, there are also non-vegan options available; my partner thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Okinawa soba.

I arrived a few minutes early for dinner service at 6:30pm and walked around until the restaurant was ready. As a vegetarian visiting the Okinawan Islands, I found limited options in Ishigaki despite the many restaurants. However, Amurita No Niwa was a great find! The staff were friendly and had a vegetarian menu in English that was also vegan-friendly. The 5 bean curry with fried vegetables was delicious, and they adjusted the spice level to my preference. They even let me try some raw Okinawan greens I had never had before. I had a lively conversation with the owners in Japanese, but they also spoke English. Thanks to a review on Happy Cow, I discovered this gem and highly recommend it. I believe Amurita No Niwa will become even more welcoming to vegetarians in the future. The restaurant is located on a smaller street near FamilyMart on Yui Road, before the covered shopping area.

This small restaurant in downtown Ishigaki is a gem. They offer meat dishes but also have a special menu for vegetarians and vegans. I enjoyed a tasty Mizuna salad with silky tofu and a flavorful curry with fried vegetables. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to assist with any questions. If you mention you are vegetarian, they will inquire about your preferences regarding eggs and cheese.

Delicious vegetarian and some vegan options. also has meat options. great coffee too. I have the curry with veggies. the waitress checked to ask from me was vegetarian or vegan and if i was ok. really cute staff. update: last year it has just become better! highly recommended. updated by previous review on 2020-10-18
