Joe's Crab Shack - Jacksonville Beach

I had read reviews on this place and had decided not to go there... We picked another place to go where we found it to be awful it smelled and just didn't seem clean therefore we left and decided to try Joe's anyway (despite the review). What we found was that the person that had written it obviously had a bad day. As we arrived the service was wonderful upbeat and cheerful atmosphere, as well as very informative staff. We ordered the cold crab which I was told we could receive hot if we wanted which was more of a delite for me.... The portions were extremely generous the food was fresh and cooked to perfection. We also ordered a chicken sandwich which I have found in alot of places to be dry and have little flavor, this is simply not the case at Joe's.... MY NEW FAVORITE RESTURANT JOE'S !!!!!! Great Job people ... We will be back.

We ordered an appetizer that was good. It came with tortillas and the dip tasted like crab cakes. We waited over 1.5 hours for a table. I ordered a steak rare which I got well done the first time. I then the second time came back medium. The steak was such a bad cut of meat that the knife wouldn’t cut through it with all the veins and it came with like 10 French fries (could you spare it? . It was horrible. My husband ordered the fish and chips which also came with about 10 French fries. The fish tasted rubbery like it cooked to long. The best part of the night was the wait staff dancing to the Macarena in the dining room. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

No ambience; NONE (unless you like NOISE, this restaurant is in dire need of sound attenuation). It is just too noisy which detracts GREATLY from the dining experience. Also, it is always very crowded (amazing given the mediocrity of the food served there). The dishes served were average at best and some were just plain awful (rubbery, overcooked fish, or greasy, in the case of the fried seafood). Stick to ordering non-fried shrimp or the llike and hope it isn't overcooked. Count us unimpressed. Our family will never dine there again. Believe me, you can do much better than this, so go somewhere else.
