Avaliação da contribuiçãoMy wife and I had an enjoyable lunch which consisted of the gnocchi which my wife rated superb and a vegetarian hamburger which I thought was very good. My overall rating of very good rather than excellent is because :-Firstly the vegetarian hamburger was the same price as those that contained meat. At $22 that is the most expensive vegetarian hamburger I have ever orderedSecondly the hamburger came with chips. I didn't want chips and asked if I could have a bit of salad with it. No I was told I get what's on the menu. When I asked again if salad wasn't available was there another option. No I was told it was what was on the menu. So with no other option I selected chips . Thirdly the lady who served me, who I understand is a part owner, was curt in this and one or two other times we dealt with her. The guys in contrast were very friendly. The lady's lack of excellence in customer service surprised me in view she was a part owner. Would we return. My wife would but it was a tad pricey for me
According to my teenager the chicken burger was the best he had ever eaten. Full of flavour & crunch. My pastrami, aged cheddar & sweet pickle toastie was delicious also. Beautifully presented food, friendly service & interesting location. Just one negative, the size of the coke compared to the cost was ridiculous. $4 for a 200ml can. Unfortunately this came out first with a large glass of ice & made me feel quite ripped off. I'd suggest making the sizes known on the menu. I will go back, but will be more wary next time & order the coffee for the same price instead.
Dropped in here for brunch recently after hearing rave reviews from my wife. The restaurant has a nice modern feel to it whilst retaining a lot of timber surfaces. Service was very cheerful and friendly and we were soon seated at a table inside. Outdoor seating is also available and would be great on a warmer day.The menu is small but I always believe that can be a good sign. Why have a multitude of items done averagely when you could do a smaller menu where everything is excellent. Mason & Bird know the way to do it!I ordered the Egg & Speck burger with a side of home made chips. All I can say was the burger was outstanding. A really good bun, obviously fresh and well cooked ingredients made for one of the best burgers I have eaten. What can I say about the chips? Just they were probably the best I have ever eaten! For a drink I chose a turmeric and banana smoothy. Just wonderful, refreshing and obviously made with fresh ingredients. So very good.Mason & Bird is a welcome new addition to the increasingly more sophisticated dining scene in Kalamunda. Highly recommended and I shall return!
We visited Mason & Bird for morning tea recently and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the tables not too close together and although they were busy, no-one had to wait long for their food. The menu is not huge but there is a good range of choice and we noticed that where possible they source and use local produce which is great. On the day we were there, the choice of food for morning tea was quite limited with no savoury options evident, however the cakes we chose were excellent. The décor is modern and the café clean and tidy. There is seating both indoors and outside. There are plenty of parking options in Kalamunda but it is at a premium on Market Days so you may need to search a bit. The cafe is located between the library and the Visitor Centre and is not very obvious from the street but definitely worth seeking out.
There is a bit of something for everyone at Mason & Bird. The location is great, with lots of parking. The interior is casual, modern and comfortable. The wood interior mirrors the hills the cafe sits nestled in. I went for breakfast and the food was lovely. We had the Vego on Toast with avocado, poached eggs and corn salsa. It was delicious. We had a serve of spinach and mushrooms on the side which were packed with freshness and flavour. The ingredients used here are locally sourced and that adds to the lovely experience we enjoyed. The coffee was strong but really delicious and I tried the beetroot latte out of curiosity. It was so good, like being wrapped in a blanket on a cold day. So comforting. The service was friendly and attentive and our orders came out quickly. If you are in Perth, Mason & Bird is a lovely place to visit to experience the amazing fresh produce WA has to offer, and afterwards head into the bush for one of the lovely bush walks you can take. Make the most of your time in the hills of Perth, it is a lovely area.
