Route 66 Roadhouse - Kissimmee

It has been such a long time since I have had such a miserable time eating out! I am so shocked to say that nothing was enjoyable. The elderly lady who waited on us was so rude and inattentive. Our food was cold (like actually had a chill on it) and heavily lacked flavor. We basically sat the whole meal with empty cups. And I guess my toddler wasn’t suppose to eat or have a drink because I had to ask multiple times where his drink and food was, even after initially ordering it when we ordered ours. Don’t worry, we still paid $95 for this miserable experience. I regret not causing a scene, but that’s not really my style. Upon having time to reflect on the experience, I decided at minimum, it deserved a honest review.

This was our “1st” time here and likely our last. We had patronized the last business at this location called Manny’s Chophouse and stopped going there after quality fell. So we were excited to try this place out. We ordered chips and salsa $5.25) for appetizer, country fried steak with sides of baked potato and house salad $16.98) and a 6 Oz filet with sides of broccoli and mixed vegetables $23.38). Starting with the chips and salsa, it is hard to mess up this simple appetizer but they failed. The salsa had a strange flavor that seemed to be carbonated. What in the world? There were so few chips on the large round serving dish that you could see the paper lining it. The house salad was an individual serving of the salad Manny’s served, and it was tasty. The country fried steak was tasty but tiny. The 6 Oz filet must have really shrunk when they cooked it as we could have turned over a drinking glass on top of it and the steak would have fit inside just fine. It was seasoned nicely, cooked right and tasted nice, just disappointing in size. The dinner rolls are the same Manny’s served and they are delicious. So, for the prices that we paid and the portion size we received, we feel overcharged. One thought to help reduce the disappointment would be to reduce the plate sizes items are served on. Service was friendly but slow. The restaurant is hiring now so likely this level of service was due to understaffing as many businesses are suffering during the pandemic.

We enjoyed our dinner here immensely! He had the porterhouse, more than enough meat some left for later. The calamari is crisp perfection. The desserts were wonderful Our server Jessica was amazing, friendly and quite helpful. We will definitely come back.

Food was great. Ordered to go and was pleased with my meal once I arrived at home. The potatoes were my absolute favorite. Flavored and seasoned to perfection!
