We started w some really yummy chicken karaage was which disappeared before my very eyes hahahaha.<br/ <br/ My ramen dish was called Kazan Volcanic Ramen. Whoa, my first mouthful took my breath away hahaha woo hoo!<br/ <br/ This dish had sliced pork, half an egg, bok choy, and a range of other delicious ingredients. <br/ <br/ The broth was rich and warm and full of flavour. And at $15.50 it was great value, given that I was soo full, but very happy afterwards. <br/ <br/ My partners ramen was demolished so this restaurant remains a personal favourite for both of us! <br/ <br/ Oh and I almost forgot, my stem dry Hakutsuru Tanrei Junmai sake was sooo good. It’s light, served cold and so refreshing, at all times hahaha.<br/ <br/ If you haven't been then your missing out! <br/ <br/ <br/ <br/ Original review October 2018<br/ I was very fortunate to be invited here tonight. This restaurant opposite Flinders St station is amazing!! Finally a place that is open all night long, yep, 24/7. Thank you!! I love the fact that you can get something to eat that is fresh, and cooked to order. Gosh I’ve missed this authentic Japanese food sooo much. This is my kind of food! I tried a peach sake drink w jelly. OMGosh yumm. It had a mild sweet peachy flavour w jelly. Wow! Yes, yes yes hahahaha l.<br/ <br/ My partner and I started w some Takoyaki which was delicious, just perfect. We had some tofu salad which was great. My ramen had an amazing broth, pork belly, and some tasty noodles. It was perfect. Gosh. And the bowl was about 2 litres deep, so big you could almost swim in it hahahaha.<br/ <br/ My partner had a rice dish and if we weren’t in public I’m sure the bowl would have been licked clean lol<br/ <br/ Enough said, this place is a must visit!! Anytime of the day, or night!!! Yay ... I am definitely going back, and if you want to know what Japan is like, this is it. Enjoy.
Shujinko serves up pretty decent ramen. I've been here a few times now and tried both the tsukeman and signature ramen. Both were flavoursome and a good portion size. The broth for the dipping ramen was the right consistency to stick to the thicker noodles
A great spot for late night ramen in the city<br/ <br/ The interior feels like they've tried to bring a slice of Japan to Melbourne. There are a lot of seats in the restaurant<br/ <br/ FOOD<br/ Gyoza: I love when there is a small sheet of fried skin that connects all of the gyoza, it feels a lot more authentic. The gyoza themselves had a tasty filling, and the skin was nice and soft.<br/ Classic ramen: A thick broth that was full of umami flavour. The ramen was cooked nicely. I liked the slightly charred flavour of the pork that was on top. The ramen egg was very nicely cooked, and had a great flavour to it.<br/ <br/ The service was polite
Food: 4.5/5This is my favourite Ramen place in Melbourne so far. Massive portion sizes, great taste and decent pork slices. Ambience: 3/5The look is very nice however if you go by yourself at a busy time you get squished very close to other people doing the same thing which makes it a little hard to eat Service: 3.5/5The service is quick and they don’t take long to deliver your food, occasionally they forget your drink.
I have been here a number of times with my friend on our lunch break. We've always had a good experience however, the service here could be better. <br/ Nonetheless, I've tried the vegetarian croquette, the Shujinko Ramen, the Miso Ramen, the Tsukemen and also their Yaki Ramen (which is dry, just like fried noodles). The food has always been good and the prices are pretty decent for what you get. <br/ <br/ Their Matcha Ice cream is also super delicious. It's the perfect dessert to be honest worth it.
