Avaliação da contribuiçãoThe food was decent, the portions were okay, the service was a little relaxed. That would be a good lunch place
The atmosphere was very casual, and the food was hot and delicious. No extras (bread or anything but good portion sizes and good lodging of food allergies. (Make sure to have more GF Pasta options than just penne, but nice to have at least one. It was a busy Wednesday night so glad that we had made reservations as the restaurant is small. Many Skip the Dishes drivers were picked up while we were there, which is a good sign. A decent place for a fast bite or takeout.
Presentation of Pasta sloppy and fall from the plate. Without taste even with extra s
Not happy at all with my order for a second time now! First time I ordered the garlic bread, diablo pasta and chocolate cake. The pasta was so extremely bland, I had to add my own seasoning but the overall smokey flavour just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. The pasta is not appetizing at all! The garlic bread was just little pieces of bread drenched in olive oil. The first time I had the cake it was really good with raspberry sauce on it. However, the second time I ordered it, it was completely different cake. There was walnuts, caramel sauce and a different filling, which was not as good—not impressed with the inconsistency. I decided to give this restaurant a second chance but I would not recommend to anyone !
We ordered from Olivo Pasta through SkipTheDishes tonight and we were extremely disappointed with the quality of food. We ordered the spinach dip and two Build Your Own pasta dishes. My husband had fettuccine with double meat sauce and he added mushrooms, garlic and parmesan cheese. I had gluten-free penne with rose sauce, chorizo, all the offered vegetables and parmesan cheese. The spinach dip was a tasteless, stringy disaster. The tortillas chips were tasty enough but they definitely came out of a chip bag. My husband described his pasta dish as tasting like pasta that came out of a can. The sauce was unlikely made in the restaurant and more likely it came out of a can or jar. After tasting our pasta dishes we both tried to make them edible by adding our own fresh parmesan cheese and some ground pepper. My husband was only able to eat a few bits before asking me to toss it down the garbage disposal. My gluten-free pasta was already partially broken up when I opened the container. With so many gluten-free pasta brands available now there is no excuse to use a cheap product that is grainy and mushy. The most surprising aspect of my first taste of my pasta was to discover that it didn’t contain chorizo sausage but instead had what I think might have been farmer’s sausage (photos attached). The rose sauce was bland and the overall dish tasted bitter, greasy and had a distinct smoky flavour which I assume was from the sausage. I had expected a spicy, fresh and vibrant pasta dish. It was awful! My stomach is still rumbling and I have heartburn. With a grimace, I stuffed down half of my pasta before I joined my husband’s meal in the garbage disposal. We called the restaurant to provide feedback on our disappointing meal and we started by commenting that my meal didn’t have chorizo in it and we thought it tasted like farmer’s sausage. The restaurant employee said that it was just a milder chorizo than we might be use to because they find that people don’t like spicy food. She seemed disinterested and I got the feeling that she was quite accustomed to people complaining about their food. When we tried to continue with our feedback she stopped us and said again in a tone of, she couldn’t care less, ‘I guess you didn’t like it.’ I said that I planned on leaving a review and she said ‘go ahead’. I also left this review last night on Google and the owner responded by suggesting that we yelled at his employee. If he had heard the conversation he would have know that we didn’t raise our voice. Unfortunately, in his response, he didn’t respond to the lack of food quality. I don’t think he really cares that customers think his food is poor. There are great Italian pasta restaurants in Greater Vancouver so I suggest that you find another restaurant to go to, or order from. I generally only take the time to review exceptional good or poor restaurants. This one stands out as exceptionally poor. I believe we are very easy to please but in this case I must say that I could never recommend this restaurant.
