Avaliação da contribuiçãoI would not call this a steakhouse; but yes, they do have steaks that r USDA choice grade which is fine with me. They claim their steaks r aged, I disagree. If the steaks r aged, it's not for very long at all. Does not have the smell, taste nor texture of REAL aged meat. As the name says: Great American STEAK BURGER. To me a steakhouse is: Ruth's Chris The Palm(both of which can b found all over the US), or as in NYC: Delmonico's, The Old Homestead, Keen's, Peter Luger's, et al, steakhouses that have REAL aged meats. A steakhouse has very good wines. This place does NOT have ANY DECENT or even HALF decent wines, let alone GOOD, wines. All the wines here are GARBAGE, swill. I speak as a retiree from the food wine industry. A decent variety on the menu. The service was very good. I have been coming here since the beginning cuz my buddies love the burgers. The front of the house crew is constantly changing. Y? My guess is cuz they don't make much money here, not enough customers. This is also reflected in the cutback of their operating hours.
There are quite a few Great American restaurants and we have been to most of them. We are from El Paso, Texas and it is worth the drive out to the Picacho Hills location because it is the best one. From the warm welcome when we first walked up to the doors to the end of our wonderful meals, everything was great. The food was cooked to perfection, our server Jackie was fantastic, and the Manager Felix was very hands on making sure all of the customers were happy. We had steakburgers, fried haddock and shrimp, chicken fried steak, and salmon. Each and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. I highly recommend this place. I noticed some people said it 's pricey, but there 's the saying that you get what you pay for. This is quality food and I think the prices fit well for what you get. If you 're looking for a nice restaurant, exceptional food and service, and a great view while you enjoy your meal, then this is definitely the place to be.
A lot has changed about this restaurant in the couple months since we first ate here. The first time we were impressed with the quality of the steak, homemade beans, fresh bread, etc. But, sadly the quality of the food was much worse this time. The steak was one on those thin, tenderized, super salty things. There is no way to cook such a cheap piece of meat properly, which is why it is loaded with salt. The beans sure seem like they came out of a can, perhaps with the addition of a little more seasoning. The baked potato and bread were both old and hard. They no longer have blue cheese dressing. It all seemed like the tale tell signs of a restaurant on its last gasp. We probably won't be back. On the rare occasion I want to eat a steak, want to be assured I am getting high quality flavorful meat cooked properly. I give it the two stars because the waiter was very nice.
Just tried to have dinner there. Looked up the closing time here on Yelp it said 9 pm. We got there at 8 pm and the front door was locked. The hours painted on the door read Thursday Saturday 11 am 9 pm There were customers inside but the front door was locked. We tried it several times, customers at the bar saw us, the server at the bar saw us and completely ignored us. We drove out to this place to try it for the first time. This place is way off the beaten path and to take the time to drive out there and then be locked out and ignored prior to the posted closing time is beyond rude. I will never give this place my business and I will never recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointing.
The Great American Steak Burger is on the edge of town and by the Picacho Hills Country Club. It's best to go during sunset when the Organ Mountains' are in full display and not hidden from its own shadow. The restaurant is small and intimate. It's a sports bar restaurant. I liked their beer battered chicken fish combo. I enjoyed the mountain views and it was worth the drive from the other part of town.
