Avaliação da contribuiçãoThis is a one of a kind place, incomparable to any other restaurant I’ve been to before. Situated in historic Herbe, beautiful views over the Bassin D’Archacon, it offers good food a comprehensive list of wines to choose from. We had grilled oysters and artichoke with foie gras. Alongside a decent rosé from the Provence. Service is friendly. Excellent dessert pain perdu at the end. One thing to improve: the restrooms seem to date right back to 1860, the year this place was build. I will not go into details but most public restrooms in France ! will beat this place when it comes to cleanliness.
I read some dreadful experiences in the ratings but I never experienced it. I regularly come back with family and friends and all share my judgement on this restaurant. Maybe try to be at the start of the service 19:30 20:00 as service may slow later when it gets more busy. The food is very fresh and tasty bistro like. The service is caring: bringing water and bread without usually needing to ask for it.
The place looks nice, well set in a cozy corner of cap ferret. Unfortunately that’s the only positive about this place: service is as bad as it gets. Servers keep ignoring you, , mix things up, look grumpy and sad when you kindly tell them that this is not the way to do things, the owner intervenes with the classic ‘monsieur c’est inutile de s’énerver’ ... which one wonders how many time she tells people every day ... food is ‘banale’ at the very best. If you don’t like what you do, please don’t do it. Let someone else take over your spot and make customers happy!
This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of our guest house. We had tuna from the special board. It could have been a fantastic meal but the tuna was under-cooked even for us and we don't like it too well done. It was a very large and thick piece of fish and at the thickest part had not even warmed through in the middle. I suppose we should have sent it back but in a language that is not your own this is difficult. The desert and service were good.
I always try and get a drink a snack or a meal here as it fits perfectly with the cool beach vibe or Cap Ferret and l'herbe. Never stayed but looks very inviting especially the balcony. Can get very busy so recommend arriving early from 5pm tho they will always try and fit you in depending on table availability. Menu is not the cheapest in the world for eating but after visiting the wonderful cabins of the fishing hamlet l'herbe you will want to get a slice of local life for yourself. Big tip there are no cars for non residents allowed in l'herbe so park up on the cliff and walk down the steps and approach via the road past the cabins or park over near the Algerian church (moorish style worth a little look) look out for parking restrictions and paid car parking spaces! We had some difficulty this time actually paying as it was so busy but sitting metres from the beach at one of the oldest hotels on cap ferret it was ok that we had to hang around there is a little beach just at the hotel so why not bring your swimming trunks? I have also used this hotel earlier in the day for a drink and again its very cool place to be seen and to drink during the day there is a terrace to the side they use for drinks enjoy!
