Charley's Famous Hamburgers

The best! I drove 2 years to Lemon Grove past this place and I wait so long to try it! The absolute best Speck Cheeseburger I've ever had in my life! Several times and the burgers are always perfect. The frits and onion rings do not disappoint either! Try it if you don't already.... take it from a fat girl it's the BEST!

A few weeks ago, Jake and I were out there planning to eat. We had decided to go to Fred's in El Cajon as we felt it needed a last shot before we took it off our rotation. The last time we visited, the food was not so good. The fries and burgers were not the same – lack of taste and spice. You could say the quality was simply not on par and not quite the same. Imagine our surprise when we moved to the El Cajon site to see a “For Lease” sign! The other two locations are still open (Alpine and Chula Vista), but too far away from the way for a visit. I tried to find a substitute for lunch and decide for Charley's famous hamburgers in Lemon Grove, not too far from Jake's house. It is just a small spot with a walkable window and a car thru. I have observed the drive-dru window a lot since we come here a few times now and it is not really a “window” but a door that opens and closes it. That makes me funny for some reason. I grew up as a child eating burgers and immersing my fries in my chocolate shakers when my uncle owned this facility before many Jars. After almost 20 years, I returned to my smile. The food was delish and Shakes were the same!! So glad that this place is still open!!! I brought back amazing memories!

I have to say that I absolutely love this place. The flavors of their burgers are amazing. The bacon is thick and flavorful the fries are crispy and they give you a lot of them the burgers are a little bit smaller than they should be and overall slightly expensive for burgers but well worth it. They have great shakes and menu as well. Then go in there my whole life and probably will be going there for many many more years.

Hands down the best corndog!! Burgers taste fresh, fries are salty and good. Shakes always the bomb! Employee vibe is never rude or a problem but always seems like they just got out of a staff meeting where they may have been yelled at!
