Avaliação da contribuiçãoWe visited Pancho 's Seafood yesterday for the first time, and we know we 'll be back. We liked the semi-open air, natty nautical ambiance, the kind and helpful service, and above all, the delicious, fresh seafood. We were brought unique, crisp, brown tostadas and crackers, as well as a half an avocado to spread on the tostadas. The older, tall waiter, whom we assume to be the headwaiter, tempted us with generous samples of some dishes, and graciously answered all or questions in detail. The menu is a small book, well illustrated with color photos of the dishes. We decided to have CarPancho de Salmón and Camarones Verdes. The Camarones Verdes arrived, and while good, were not as well seasoned as we hoped. The CarPancho de Salmón was rich and generous. It had somewhat excessive vinaigrettes, capers and herbs, but it was delicious. Surfeited by the meal, I took home a third of the Carpancho. We drank two micheladas and one agua mineral. We were pleasantly surprised that our total check was only $555 MX pesos. One peculiarity of the place is that the meal items are not itemized on the check. I will request this on our next visit. Note also that using a credit or debit card for payment incurs a 1.5% commision. We paid in cash. In regard to the service: if anything, it 's too closely attentive. We appreciated the head waiter 's help and generosity, but I found that the constant buzzing about our table by bus boys was somewhat annoying. They were almost constantly picking up barely used napkins, wiping down the table, (while we were eating! ; as well as usefully taking away emptied plates. Thus, I gave one less star. But we hope to return to Pancho 's, to try other seafood delights, for once is not enough!
I think this restaurant is completely over-rated. The prices are overly excessive for what they serve. This is definitely not the best mexican seafood in León. The quality of the food served here is fair, however, you can get better dishes and cooked specialties elsewhere. They do have a fair variety of vinaigrettes used in their preparations which is what may get people to think this is great, but I think they could be better. The variety of drinks offered is pretty lame, you either drink beer (people usually come here to get micheladas for their hungovers) or you drink soda. No cocktails or lemonade/orangeade/juice ordered. If you don't drink soda or beer, you pretty much have to stick to excessively-priced bottled water or un-spiced Clamato. The portions are somewhat small for (again) the overly-high prices. The service was poor, they took around 25-30 min to serve a 6 people table- all the dishes were raw food. No entrées, just main course, and even so, they managed to bring plates we hadn't ordered and get confused as two waiters and a waitress were serving our table. It took them around 15 minutes to bring the drinks and while eating, I asked for another bottle of water which they brought after we had already finished. We ended up paying $2000+ MXP for poor service and not-so-special food. I do not recommend this place at all, don't fall for the hype.
