Avaliação da contribuiçãoWith 2 adults and 1 child we enjoyed lunch. Food was lovely and fresh! We ordered meat, fish and mussels. All tasted great! Also price was oké ????
We stopped for lunch today after a lovey cycle ride around the island. The place looks very basic but the food was first class. We had the 'plat du jour' which was filet of sea bass with salad, and vegetables. No menu to choose from but you are offered the dish of the day or a few other choices such as croque monsieur or oysters. The atmosphere was very relaxed and very friendly. Run by a husband and wife who were both friendly and welcoming. A lovely young lady served us and the service was very good and quick. We hope to visit again soon.
Love the place, love the rustic decor, good and welcoming staff, nice food, good beverage... must be the best bistro bar on the whole island. Period.
Stopping off on our cycle ride round the island we first stopped at the prettier restaurant next door but as it was a lovely sunny day we decided to sit outside at the more basic Bar La Cafeteria. I am so glad we made that decision as we had a wonderful lunch, probably one of the best we had on the island. Not the most attractive of places at first glance and a little rustic, but the food and welcome of the staff made up for the lack of sophistication. Basic - yes with a wonderful quirky decor of mismatched chairs, tables and odd pieces of artwork if you can call it that! It all added to our enjoyment of our visit and far more interesting that sitting in a sterile modern restaurant. There was no menu as such, you get what is on offer that day and it didnt disappoint. A wonderful plate of a variety of fresh fish with a side salad and bread. It was interesting working out the different species of fish - probably half a dozen - all cooked to perfection. This is the best of French food - no frills but full of flavour. Great value for money too.The cafe is run by a husband and wife team and they were happy to chat when we went up to the bar afterwards to compliment them on our lunch. Madame came out from the kitchen and we conversed in our less than perfect French for some time. Apologies to you both that it took me so long to post this. The best way to explore this wonderful island is by bicycle so on your trip head down to the south west corner and in the square at L'Epine you will find this wonderful place to stop and eat. I promise you will want to go back again we certaily will.
