Good Chinese restaurant in Libreville with affordable prices and a cosy atmosphere
With a menu of menu of more than 50 dishes, none of them is vegetarian. They will do a mixed stir fried veg.... That's it. I didn't eat here because I want more than one dish to choose from.
Food Disclaimer: I'm a foodie that enjoys food for their taste, fish should taste like fish not rubber and must be fresh, prawn must have prawn taste, etc. Went there for a buffet dinner. Brings back some similar tastes from back home. The easy to make sweet and sour pork was not bad. Siewmai was so so. Fried prawn fritters looked appealing and tasted ok. Black fungus could use more garlic. Rice and noodles... Who goes to a buffet for those? Anyway some people had them. And cakes?! Interesting, a Chinese buffet with cakes. Maybe the prawns and fish may not be tasty enough? Anyway do read on... Soup was either bland or juste a heavily peppered soup. Salmon sushi was bland and tasteless. Steamed prawns par ici has BLAND written all over, lacking prawn taste as well. It is as if the cook intentionally removed the taste from all the prawns. Steamed fish, this restaurant have to get a new cook. It's so fibrous you can clean your car with it, twice! In addition the steamed fish was bland and tasteless. I cannot finish the small portion i took and paid them for wasting food. The above are my opinions and comments, the owner is from Chinese Taipei and the waitress is from China (i reckon she could cook better than the cook). Patrons were Chinese, Africans, Europeans and Lebanese. Perhaps the taste would suit the wide variety of patrons better. To the owner: you should educate these patrons on how to enjoy proper Chinese cuisine. And add a section to cater to your Chinese patrons. To me, at this point of time the buffet was a waste of money Service, not bad. Atmosphere good for gatherings and to bring non-chinese people to eat here ;p
Going for the dinner buffet on Saturday night, it was crowned. The restaurant is just at the side of the road, the service is good, the owner is friendly. There are countless dishes of Chinese style dishes available, although not all of them are authentic Chinese, there are some Western mixed in like fries, pan cake and cakes. Not all the dishes are served hot, but the refill of certain fried dishes is efficient, so some can still be warm. Sushi is made with Smoked Salmon, which isn't the right way, but it's neglectable. We paid 17,000 cfa drinks. This would be a great place for gourmet but not so ideal for those who look for bottomless drinks. Another drawback is that to maximize seatings, the space is a bit cramped.
