Cafe Portofino - Lihue

My family and I came here for our last dinner together before flying out from Kauai. We had been planning all week for a beach-view side meal as we don't see each other often and had requested it on our reservation as such. When we arrived, we were given a table without a direct view of the beach and when bringing this up with the host, he asked my mom if she'd prefer to sit out in the sun instead of the table he was offering. We asked how long the wait would be for a view of the beach and he said at least 1.5 hours. We sat down for 15 minutes and after ordering with our very attentive waiter, a table near us cleared. We had only been given our water so asked if we could move, but this was turned down as it was not in our host's section and we had already ordered. Another table opened up directly in front of us 5 minutes after in her section and weren't offered to move. Overall, the food and ambiance at the restaurant were great, but the overall experience could have been more special.

Quality of the food was low for the price they charge and service was not friendly and welcoming

Its all about the experience of dining outside, listening to the waves and enjoying a delicious meal! Service was very good and food was delicious. You wont be disappointed

A beautiful place to dine on the Kalapaki beach. Ambience was terrific with live music and outstanding food and drinks. A little pricey but this is the cost of being in paradise.
