I visited the Plank and Leggit last weekend after not visiting here for about 15 years. On the night I had no complaints about the food and the attentiveness of the staff. The only complaint was that the place looked dated. Also the three tables that my party were sat at were not level, hence my mark.
Haven’t been here for a few years so we thought we would go for lunch, it was a family meal for four adults. I use a wheelchair, the blue badge bays are near to the entrance, good width of bay to get out of the car. The journey into the venue wasn’t the best. The dropped kerb wasn’t level with the road and so a small step up caused me pain as I bumped over it. The path wasn’t too good either, they have used riven paving slabs, whilst this provides some slip resistance, it provides a really bumpy ride along the path to the restaurant causing more pain. I had a trip to the accessible toilet, which wasn’t that accessible. The problem comes from creating a shared accessible toilet with a nappy changing area. When there is shared use the room needs to be larger or better laid out. There wasn’t room to turn my small wheelchair around because there was a large bin for used nappies on one side and the nappy changing table sticking out on the opposite side. So if you want to change a nappy you are well catered for, but if you are a wheelchair user you might struggle. The meals arrived, fairly average pub grub, all nicely microwaved. My wife had gammon steaks around 20% of which was fat. I have a food allergy and so have to be careful what I order. Unfortunately the food which I am allergic to found it’s way onto my plate. I didn’t see the contamination until I had eaten food which was on top of it, now feeling quite ill. Overall, not the best experience!
Me and my husband went for a cheap and cheerful meal out... It was terrible. First they served me a dish I hadn't ordered, I was then given the choice to send my husband's meal back and us both to wait 10 to 15 mins or to let him eat his. We were both really hungry, so he ate his, not ideal. The woman dealt with the meal issue and was nice enough, although never actually said sorry, just that the chef had got confused. She gave us £4 which she said was the difference between the meals, which confused me a bit. I then get the food and it's vile, the sauce was bitter and burnt, the chicken beyond bland, the lettuce was rotten, the corn dry as a bone and loads of the chips were black. Thankfully the burger was just about edible, gristle aside. Safe to say we won't be returning
The fact that the place was absolutely dead on a sunny Saturday afternoon should of been a warning really! We turned up and there was no one in but plenty of staff. All sat down laughing and joking with each other, which isn’t a crime or anything; however the quietness of the day should of been a perfect opportunity to clean the place! It was honest to god the most grimy, dirty and disgusting place I’ve ever been. The tables were sticky the menus were sticky, every glass we got was dirty, the cutlery was dumped on the table dirty. The tv for the kids was covered in splashes of food and drinks, the windows and ceiling and lights were covered in cobwebs. The sauce bottles made me want to throw up. They were sticky to the touch and all empty with horrible dregs of congealed sauce in them. The seats were sticky. Honestly we couldn’t wait to leave
