Avaliação da contribuiçãoWhat a hidden treasure! My friend and I celebrated our belated 30th birthdays here, and it was one of the best meals we've ever had. The food and service were outstanding, and the staff was exceptionally warm and friendly. From now on, we’ll be celebrating all our major life milestones here. Thank you, Matsumoto team!
There is a tremendous selection of ingredients available, all of which are delicious and fresh. The nigiri are petite and exquisite, so you may need to enjoy 15 or more pieces to feel satisfied.
The sushi was exceptional. With each course, the quality of the fish reached new heights. I felt a bit rushed to finish my meal, influenced by the pace of others at the bar who were also enjoying the omakase. In hindsight, I shouldn't have felt that way, as the chef was more than happy to serve everyone according to their own timing. I truly appreciated that. The service was very attentive; my empty plate was never left lingering on the table. However, I found the use of yuzu to be a bit excessive throughout the various courses. Its strong flavor can easily overpower other tastes, sometimes overshadowing the rice and fish. The restaurant itself is immaculate and operates like a well-oiled machine. Sushi is taken very seriously here; if you're looking for authentic sushi without any gimmicks or trends, this is the place to go. You won’t be disappointed.
Closest thing I?ve found to a traditional Japanese sushi joint in LA (I lived in Tokyo for a couple years). Sushi was fresh and delicious. The range of fish options was better than what you?ll find at Nobu for example. Menu is all sushi, either nigiri orhand rolls with one or two exceptions, and then of course miso, edamame, etc. You won?t find spider rolls, California rolls, etc. Vibe is understated. Come here for the sushi and the service, not the decor. It?s expensive but that?s what you?d expectin LA. It?s not cheap to fly all that fish in from Tokyo every day! You can go for the omakase option which is $220?250/person.We ordered a la carte and spent about $100/person without drinks.
I came here tonight with a friend who highly recommended Matsumoto as her favorite omakase in LA. Definitely did not disappoint. A very pleasant experience good service, excellent fish, and a good ambiance. Very unassuming location, but really comfortableinside. Would definitely come back! We had a special seikogani (female snow crab) and it was fantastic!
