They've cut down their menu over the years, and now serve mostly sushi. Service is just bad. Nothing more frustrating than seeing people who were seated after you receive their food when you've been waiting an extended period of time to place your order and receive your food.Food quality has also gone down over the years. Sushi rolls have way too much rice, and fall apart when you go to pick them up. This place used to be good, but now really disappointing.

Best service! A successful restaurant assigns everyone to do everything! Awesome creative dishes . Love this place.

Best sushi spot I've been to lately ! Really great service and the fish is extremely fresh, those are the two most important things for me at a sushi restaurant. And they have both. My favorite are the Handrolls yum can't wait to go back and bring all my friends !

Katsu ya is a valley staple sushi joint with locations in Northridge, Woodland Hills, Encino, and Studio City.They pride over fresh sushi and they have separate lunch vs dinner hours, so make sure to check before heading out. I came in today with my cousin to celebrate my belated birthday for lunch. We didn't have reservations, but the wait on a Sunday at lunchtime was only 15 minutes. We both started with iced green tea and ordered the following:To share yellow tail jalapeño sashimi (the star of the show I could drink the sauce) 10/10 spicy tuna crispy rice 9/10 albacore with crispy rice sashimi 8/10 salmon, tuna, and yellowtail sushi. 10/10 I ordered a baked crab hand roll and she ordered a cut yellowtail scallion roll. Both 9/10 Overall, fresh fish, great service, and easy parking (key in LA).
