Avaliação da contribuiçãoWe love the Grill! First because Ellie and Shawn (friendly, caring, personal attention owners, cooks and servers!) and Mary Lou (exceptional service and personal attention) and because as a Vegan, I know I can get a fantastic meal and my husband will be happy with his non-vegan meal - every visit. For example, this past weekend, Shawn prepared a gluten free vegan pizza that was the best I've ever had!!! Loaded with roasted vegetables with a small piece of roasted corn in the middle (a little phalic, Shawn. lol). It made me wonder why other chefs in other restaurants can't put together a vegan pizza? Shawn also cooked up a rice bowl for me - again loaded with roasted veggies, slightly sweet and spicy. Delicious. Thanks, Shawn. You rock!!!And for entertainment value - get Shawn to sashay over to the baby grand and belt out a few tunes. So much fun. I highly recommend vegetarians and vegans to drop by - if more of us request veggie meals, they'll get on the menu. Thanks again, Shawn and Ellie. We're super fans:-).
We did our yearly motorcycle ride through Minden and did our usual stop at the Grill on the Gull .The place has a perfect patio with a breathtaking views and provides a cool summer breeze. The server was actually the owner and as usual she was friendly and oddly she remembered us from last year. The meal was excellent and because we got there early we spent some of the day walking around in the town. It is a perfect day .We will be returning soon .
The waitress recommended it and she was spot on. Too bad my husband forgot the take out container on the table when he walked out tonight :(
Had the squash pasta with rose sauce. Sauce seemed like it came out of a jar. Pasta was well cooked but very bland with no real seasoning. Had a great opportunity to add flavour with roasted vegetables maybe but the choice was to slice up a few cherry tomatoes and put them on top. Added nothing to the dish. Do not understand a choice to add pit bread triangles as a side to this pasta dish. It was already chalk full of starches with no balance or anything else in colour or in food choice. I felt far too expensive for what came out. Certainly not a creation of a true chef but priced as if it was. Guess I was paying for the view. My guest had a very good black bean burger. The heated potato chips as here side dish were great tasting and a nice touch. Her meal was good I agree and a much better value for the money. Have not been at this restaurant for about 5 years. I suspect new owners since then. There was not the same care to detail or the same quality of service. When I complained nicely about my meal when asked there was no offer to get me something else more to my liking; no offer of perhaps a complimentary coffee or a dessert; just a bunch of apologies for what this server had not real control over. I never heard from an owner or a manager that they had heard my comments and were taking them into consideration. If asked I would have chosen something different and given the whole experience another shot. The view was worth a second go. I wasn't looking for a free meal. I was looking for a nice filling and satisfying meal to end the day before driving home.Home now for the trip up north and making a soup. Still hungry from dinner and not happy about it. I hope they read this and pay some attention.
We stopped on the way back for lunch. Nice view on the Gull River. Nice patio at the back. We had a good lunch. Friendly staff. The waitress brought coloring books for the kids.
