Zur Andau - Mainz

I must agree with the previous reviews on this. after extensive research, this pub has the freshest and coldest Bitburger beer in mainz. it's a cozy, small german pub. i would recommend avoiding it on weekends and especially when the german football is being televised as you won't be able to get in the door. during the week is quite comfortable. the food menu is quite limited but the food looked quite acceptable. you can sit outside in the summer which is quite nice.

First evening in town I was looking for a quick bite to eat, and Zur Andau was just around the corner from the apartment that I was staying in. Quite a small and cosy little bar with a fairly basic menu, but the currywurst and fries was delicious, and the beer slipped down easily. Could quite happily have stayed for longer if I had the opportunity.

I was in Mainz for a month at Hilton Mainz City. Fastest service I have had in Germany consistently! normal german food and they have specials every day. Burgers, Goulash, chili,serbian stew, all great. Curry wurst was ok but huge. Very friendly local place, packed every night. English menu as is typical only had about half the items and prices haven't been updated. A burger with fries and 3 Cold bitburger BEERS sets you back 16€, 3 beers and goulash 13€. Good section of local beers. I ate here frequently
