Avaliação da contribuiçãoWarm friendly welcome- fabulous service- food is excellent and extremely reasonable. The lakeside cafe at Boggart Hole Clough, run by the lovely Marise, it’s the Hub of the park and community, bringing people together and supporting them with anything they need help with. Visit, eat and laugh- you will return x
My son and 8 year old grandson have just been to this cafe at heaton park and have been ripped off. They ordered two milk shakes , a sandwich pizza, a bottle of water and cheese toastie and paid £25.00 . my son said the milkshakes were ok but the food nothing special. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS RIP OFF PLACE. 15/08 /2020.
We’ve been visiting Heaton Park for over 30 years and have seen many changes. Some good but sadly the new owners of the Lakeside Cafe are not in this category. We happened to meet with one of them a few weeks ago and he talked about his aspirations for both The Lakeside and Stables cafe. Rather than focusing on the coffee and serving it in cups and saucers he needs to get back to basics. We had high hopes when we happened to pop into the cafe when it was undergoing its “refurb, decorating and deep clean”. Somewhat shocked that when it did open the decorating looked like it had been slapped on by a ten year old and the furnishings have gone backwards. The cosy sofas and armchairs have been replaced by table and chairs that look like they’ve been picked up at a car boot sale. The place looks dirty and unhygienic especiallly the toilets but the food and service is absolutely shockingly dreadful. We ordered 3 all day breakfasts at just before 11.00am and at 11.50am when chased for the third time we were told it was because it was busy. I said it wasn’t unreasonable to expect when placing the order if they knew we would have to wait so long they should have let us know so we could have decided if we wanted to wait. This was met with a shrug of the shoulders an indifferent look and the comment “ I only work here”. Then they arrived! Burnt bacon and sausage, hash browns cold in the middle, cold egg and beans. It was inedible. Returned them to the lady who “only worked there” who refunded the full cost and scraped the lot in the bin. Next time we visited we tried The Stables cafe but didn’t want to risk the food and ordered coffees. Watching the speed of the person making the coffees I ordered, paid went outside and walked around the stalls on the Artisan Market, tried the cheese, bought some Gin and went back in to find our coffees were just being made. Whoever you are that has taken over you need to get down there, train and recruit more staff, clean the place up as it’s a shambles. We intend on packing a flask for our next visit.
Big plate of bacon and egg for my 95 year old mothe served up with a smile by emma who is going to be a new mum soon
We went here as a group of mums for brew and chat. Overall was good, not enough tables and chairs if a lot of people turn up at same time. They cook from scratch which is nice. I waited awhile for cheese and onion toastie which was 1.80. However the crust was used on one side. A garnish would have been nice as it was lunch time. I think the pricing of the chocolate bars n crisps could do with looking at as every thing seemed to be 50p. Even though i identifed products from Aldi. I think this place could be a little gold mine. I would have loved a hot bowl of soup and bread roll after a brisk walk around the park. Maybe free refill on tea n coffee if original price higher. I think its a lovely friendly place with lakeside views. People seem to stay for longer than one brew.
