Avaliação da contribuiçãoThis restaurant is located on Main Street in Markham, not in Unionville. There's street parking available on both sides, as well as ample parking behind the building. We have been coming here every year for almost eight years before the Markham Santa Claus Parade. Typically, we order burgers and fries, and the kids have a standard children's menu. The prices are great, the food is generally good, and it arrives quickly—it's a fantastic combination. The decor in the main part of the restaurant is a bit outdated, but it's acceptable. During our last visit on a Saturday just before lunch, we decided to take advantage of the all-day breakfast. We ordered the eggs Benedict. I must say, NEVER ORDER THE EGGS BENEDICT. It was truly terrible—mushy, cold, and the hollandaise sauce was unlike anything I've ever tasted. We ended up scraping it off, and even then it was awful. I felt compelled to warn others about this experience!
The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is quiet and cozy. The prices are reasonable, although the menu offers a limited selection. They now have separate lunch and dinner menus, as well as a kids' menu. Typically, you won't have to wait long for your food to arrive. I would definitely recommend this place to friends.
As for the food, it was reasonably good. There were three of us for dinner: my wife, one of our sons, and me. My son opted for the straightforward Chicken Fingers and Fries. The chicken fingers were pretty standard, but the fries were excellent. My wife ordered the Beef Stir Fry, which was also standard but packed with fresh vegetables. I decided on Uncle Joe's Burger, and it was well-prepared. It wasn't overcooked, which can be a common problem at many restaurants. The crispy bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and melted cheese provided a delightful combination of textures and flavors that made every bite enjoyable from start to finish.
Mom and pop diner with great burgers! Homemade beef patties cooked on a flat top so you get those crispy edges and classic onion rings. Prices are great and portions are big considering the prices old fashioned greasy spoon diner. There fish and chips are also popular! Haven't tried them or dinner but I'm sure we will ay some point.
Bad Service. We went the other night for the first time in a while. The staff are very friendly and in spite of my review below, the food is good for the most part, with generous portions. <br/ Spouse ordered a hamburger and subsituted salad for the fries. The salad came first as opposed to together with the burger. A small quibble, not big deal. <br/ Then my main course came. But not my soup, which I therefore arranged to take home. <br/ My daughter ordered fettucine alfredo which was more of a creamy pesto sauce and not at all what she was expecting.<br/ My son ordered nachos and although we specifically requested no onions or peppers, this request was not honoured.<br/ I will probably be back at least one more time because I like the idea of a neighbourhood diner but really, this whole visit was disappointing as the waitress did pretty much nothing to ensure our meal was a good one.
