Original Smolik's Bbq - Mathis

We were looking for a short bite for lunch when I saw this place. The best road stop ever. Food was great, service was great, atmophere wonderful. If I'm ever back in this way, I'm sure I'll keep in mind.

Loved the generous portions of Brisket, tasty potato salad, and fantastic best always warm peach pbblers. They also have good grill sauce.

Very good bbq. Brisket was delicious, ribs were slightly boiled, but very tasty. Pages were also very good. $15 for a 2 meat plate with 2 sides and they stack it on unlike many bbq joints. Super friendly service. If you're in the area, you should stop.

There is no way that this BBQ belongs to the Top 50 Texas Monthly List. My wife and I have visited dozens of BBQ compounds on this famous list, and this place should be on ANY to eat BBQ list. The brisket was like microwave gum and the chicken wasn't even BBQ taste. Pages were so. So even a favor and not waste your time. Attention, a native Texan!

Sarah at the takeout register greeted me as soon as I walked in with a smile. Renee was my server and served me well was very personable. I had the catfish plate w/ 2 sides. The seasoned fries were to die for! The catfish was even better!! It was worth the drive, believe me. I shall return to be sure.?
