Restaurant Goldenes Fass - Meißen

Very recommended. We were there for a birthday dinner and the service and the food were excellent. The ambience in the dining area is beautiful.

We had a group meal for 13 people and all enjoyed everything. Presentation was excellent, eating plentiful and very tasty, table service very well with drinks at sharp prices. What else do you want? We enjoyed it to the point where we came out the boss for a deserved round applause.

We arrived in Meissen on Good Friday, which is a bank holiday in Germany meaning that almost all businesses and certainly all grocery stores are closed, as well as many restaurants. We were a bit afraid that we would only find a few lackluster...restaurants open. Imagine our delight in finding this jewel of a restaurant just downstairs from our very comfortable and cute rental apartment! Except for the slow service which was a function of the holiday, I'm sure with only one waitress trying to take orders, serve food, bus tables AND register new guests to the attached hotel/apartments, every single criterion for a superb meal was met. The interior furnishings of the restaurant were beautiful and cosy, the food was finely prepared and seasoned, and the presentation was picture-worthy. This was indisputably the best and most interesting meal we have enjoyed in Germany during this trip. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

We stayed in the guest house attached to this restaurant immediately after Christmas 2011. We visited the restaurant three times and on each occasion were very impressed with the choice, the service and most importantly the food. The trout was particularly good. Prices are reasonable,...although not cheap reflecting the quality of the food. A great experience and easy to recommend.
