I have been here twice and was not disappointed on either visit. Most recently, I tried the Turkish delight cheesecake and highly recommend it! I haven't tried any savory snacks here yet, but I definitely recommend the cakes. Thank you, Flooks!"
Well after reading the good reviews in this cafe I have had a bad experience I was having my hair done in nearby hairdressers new I was going to be in there for sometime an was feeling peckish so asked one of the girls to get me a toastee well she ordered it for me then went to collect it. when I opened the container first impression this looks nice cheese an onion and a bit of salad then I spotted I had extras not one to complain about extras but this extra was not edible a 'biro pen 'yes a pen with cheese over the top of it.I think you would call this a contaminated toastee so with my hair full of bleach a gown and towel over me of I went with the contaminated toastee walked in the cafe had strange looks of the staff showed what I had found in with my toastee the reply was 'that was me ' I will make you another one no offer of a refund or would I like a coffee or perhaps cake would made amends nothing this is why I felt the need to write this
We were looking for some where to eat at lunch time and passed this gem. So glad we spotted it good choice of sandwiches and the like and an amazing collection of cakes all homemade. Unfortunately we live about 150 miles away so are sadly not going to be able to sample them all. We tried the mint aero cheese cake and the lemon drizzle cake. Both totally gorgeous. Served by the lovely friendly owner. Definitely a place to seek out if you in the area.
I had a good experience when I came for afternoon tea, so I decided to try lunch. Unfortunately, all the soups I tried had too much pepper and I am certain that chili flakes were used in all of them. Despite this, all the cakes, except for the custard slice, were delicious as usual. The staff were friendly and helpful, so I will definitely visit again.
Although when I’ve visited the tea room at lunchtimes on a few occasions and enjoyed the food served I must say that I was really disappointed today when we went there for afternoon tea. I rang around 11am to book a table for 4 2pm and was told as this was a late booking we would have to accept the savouries they had but could choose the desserts. As I’d experienced nice food previously and I believed as a cafe/tearoom had a varied menu I didn’t think there was anything to worry about. Unfortunately for the price of £12 per person we were bitterly disappointed. On the stand was 1 pig in blanket each (mini sausage), a tiny spring roll each, a variety of finger sandwiches whic left a lot to the imagination!! I’m sorry to say the cakes were not that palatable either. What a total waste of money! There are only 3/4 tables in total and it wasn’t busy! Before we left a couple came in. They appeared to have corn beef slices and crisps on their plate stand. I fail to see why we couldn’t have the same. It looked far more substantial considering we paid the same! It’s safe to say we will not be returning. £48 for half a sandwich, a couple of cakes and a few pots of tea!! We could have had a banquet from M&S.
