Avaliação da contribuiçãoOf my two times dining at St. Genevieve, this was the least impressive.The food was good but not notable in any way of the courses, the beef in the croquette was good though the crust was overdone and the vegetables that accompanied the pork belly were very tasty, but the rest was so so, especially for the price.The service was generally subpar, with a particular, easily resolved, lack of focus on keeping water on the table and ensuring that it matches the type (still or sparkling) when it 's refilled. An additional service concern was the pacing: long wait to order, but then the courses arrived practically on top of one another.While I may return in the future, I must say that I was overall disappointed by this experience, muttering to myself, That wasn 't worth the time or money, as soon as I departed from the restaurant.
We went to this restaurant for dinner with moderate expectations, but were disappointed by the overall experience. As French-Americans, we appreciate good food and atmosphere in any setting, as long as it lives up to its promises. Out of the five dishes we ordered, we only enjoyed two. The tomato and polenta dish was excellent, as was the wine selection, although it was served too cold. The tatin dessert was also good, despite not being traditional tatin. However, the beignet starter was unpleasant and undercooked, the duck was dry and not properly prepared, and the lentils were undercooked. The trout dish was the biggest disappointment, with a small, skinny piece of fish in a watery sauce, served over an artichoke for $40. The portion size was much smaller than expected. The fries were mediocre at best. After reading reviews, we discovered that many people enjoy the brunch at this restaurant, but we found it half-empty on a Friday night. We were unimpressed by the small portions and high prices, especially for a place claiming to be French. Eating French cuisine should not mean expensive, small portions in a bistro setting. In high-quality restaurants, portion sizes may be smaller, but the quality of the food should be impeccable. This restaurant did not meet our expectations.
After a long absence, we recently visited St Genevieve and were amazed at the high quality and beautiful presentation of the dishes. It was easily the most upscale dinner we have had in the Twin Cities in years. Each course, from the salad to the trout to the steak and fries, was elegantly prepared and delicious. Despite the small and noisy dining area, the exceptional food alone will have us returning to this restaurant.
Unresponsive management- I have called and emailed multiple times regarding a gift card purchased through the restaurants website that has been paid for and not fulfilled. It has been two months now. Each time I call, the hostess takes my info to relay to the manager but I have never received a response.
Closer to a 4.5 in terms of rating but the vibe makes up for it. This is a very cozy place for brunch because of its location on a weekend morning! Sitting outside on a morning in the summer makes it even better. I am also just a huge fan of the restaurant's name, so part of me maybe a bit subjective on how much I like this place. However, I do have to be realistic about its food and the aspects that matter the most.The food is not cheap, especially for the portion given when each entrée is $18 or $19, but I think the taste makes it relatively worth it. They have the quiche du jour and the omelette du jour, which basically mean that they can vary from day to day, and I have had various kinds at different times and they have always tasted good. Two days ago their omelette contained scallops and gruyere cheese and the egg texture was very soft as the scallop flavor seeped into the eggs giving the egg another dimension of flavors. The dish got both flavor and texture without a doubt. The shakshouka was pretty good, although I will say for this one the portion really didn't match the price because shakshouka is a very easily made northern African Middle Eastern breakfast dish that I have had elsewhere for $10-15 with much larger portions. The wild mushroom brie crêpe also had really soft texture, meaning the scrambled eggs and the mushroom were really well made. I also thoroughly enjoyed the beignets as they were very freshly made with the perfect amount of sweetness! Although I have to say that I have attached two photos of beignets from August 2022 and two days ago, respectively, and the beignets from two days ago looked and tasted better. A good amount of house-made milk bread was given to us two days ago, but only three sausages were given to my friend and me back in August 2022 as the photo has shown, and the latest menu had the bread cost $5 while the sausages $10, so yeah... Slightly beyond my comprehension.Service was pretty good! Our server always had a smile and was very attentive to our needs and checked in at the exact right moments, so I appreciated it. They also made sure that I had sparkling water while my partner had still water.Overall if people ask me some of the best brunch restaurants in the Twin Cities, then I will definitely mention St. Genevieve, but I also will give a disclaimer on the price that may disappoint some when they see the food portion. Our bill amount was pretty high even though we felt like we just got full.
