Madame Smith - Montréal

I visited this restaurant because I was meeting a friend in the area. They have one vegan taco option, originally offered with either Impossible meat or shiitake mushrooms on their website, but now only offer Impossible meat. I was disappointed that I couldn't get the mushrooms instead. The meat was not cooked thoroughly, but it tasted decent. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant, but I would not recommend it for a satisfying vegan meal.

Kudos to the restaurant for offering a vegan option, and even more kudos for it being quite tasty. However, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat it again.

The restaurant staff could point out which menu items could be made vegan, but there were only a few options and some were not available during our visit. The vegan cauliflower "wings" were delicious, and they also had a Beyond burger available (although I did not order it). My vegetarian partner enjoyed the mushroom tartare (which was not vegan despite what the restaurant listing says) and another cheese dish. The gin and tonics were fantastic, and the restaurant itself has a charming atmosphere with a cool vibe. The menu is only in French, but the staff can assist with translations.

Requisit to this retaurant for a vegan option, double props for it is actually quite good. I wouldn't go to dinner again.

While the staff in the location was able to identify which menu points could be made vegan, there were very few and some were not available when we went. the vegan cauliflower “wings” were excellent and they had an off-menu beyond burger (which I did not order) my vegetarian partner has much better with the mushroom (not vegan as the restaurant lists) and another cheese dish. the gin and tonics were however phenomenal, and the place is enchanting. very cool. the menu is only available in French, although the staff can help with the translation.
