Avaliação da contribuiçãoNo trip to Montreal is complete without a visit here. Excellent sourced products served with care and knowledge. Absolutely one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal.
We were a group of 5 for a business meeting and the service and speed were absolutely awesome. The waiter proposed appetizers that were all in the mark. Just awesomeness! However, the chef fell a little short on the mains. I took the lamb and it needed a tad more seasoning. My colleague took the filet and it just needed a little more salt. Everything was great. But just missed awesome. The deserts. Wow ! I'll be back. But I'll ask for salt ;).
Been here many times over the years and it continues to satisfy, on many levels. Welcoming, cozy, not at all stuffy and importantly, not noisy (like many of the newer restos). Top notch yet friendly service, nice presentation, inventive menu that changes frequently. Portions are well sized so that you can enjoy an appetizer, a primo and/or secondo. Easy to share as well. Everything is always very tasty. If it is not already, it will become a favourite for excellent Italian cuisine. This time, tried the Gallina, a half cornish hen, rolled with spinach and wrapped in prosciutto and baked crispy. The skin may be a bit crusty, but the meat was perfectly cooked. 2 large portions served over beans. The taste of the carrot garnish was strangely off, but everything else came together nicely. The Burrata salad with beets and balsamic was also heavenly. Just a few choices for dessert, all a nice sweet ending as dolci should be. This is Italian comfort food with culinary flare. Easy to love.
Attacked with a friend to spend a good time at noon time, we start with an entrance of polpettes to the lamb with a nice salad. the balls are superb, the flesh is a little shaky and a touch of goat cheese surprises pleasantly in the center of the device. after a glass of delicious chardonnay we let ourselves advise towards a langhe; Even if it is carafé, unfortunately the proportion of nebbiolo is not sufficient in the encépagement of the wine which gives it a little too much robustness and rusticity for our palet. We'll have to be more precise next time. Fortunately the tortellini are magnificent the dough is of great finesse, truffle and cream soften the wine. tiramisu and macchiato are irreproachable. service is very courteous and professional, the decor is pleasant and full of light even if the tables are too small. the primo
We went as 3 couples. The restaurant is cozy. For starters the menu is written on a large blackboard, in Italian. This means the waiter will spend some time explaining the choices to you. On the plus side your mouth will water as he details the novel food inspirations. On the minus side you can't read ahead nor remind yourself unless your Italian is really good. The menu changes with the season so I won't go in to much detail on what we chose. Cheese stuffed deep fried Zucchini flowers, a stuffed pork chop, a prime rib steak to share, Black Cod, braised lamb shoulder, desserts of a Nutella-like pizza with deep-fried dough and Budino were favourites. I don't do them proper service without describing what made them great but to say the flavour combinations were well thought out and made with attention. The wine list is extensive. Yes all Italian wines -:)Serge looked after us with excellence appearing relaxed and casual but totally serious that we enjoy ourselves and the meal.
