Upon our arrival, we learned that there had been flooding and a hurricane, which meant we couldn't go hiking—the main reason for our visit. We did stroll around the grounds, but found that many guests were smoking outside as well. We ultimately decided to retreat to our room and come up with new plans away from this place. To make matters worse, the Wi-Fi didn't work, so we couldn’t unwind with a show on TV after a long day of travel. The signal kept dropping after just a few minutes, and the front desk had no solutions for us. While the room was clean, it was quite small and cramped. It would have been nice if, when we booked our stay, they had mentioned that we would be in a subpar hotel and that the mountain was closed.
I also attended an Arts and Crafts festival there, which was a fun experience—we strolled around sipping hot chocolate with marshmallows and picked up a few unique items. Don’t overlook the scenic drive up; witnessing the shift from desert landscape to mountainous terrain is truly something special. As for nearby activities, there’s plenty to do, including numerous hiking opportunities and the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway, which you'll pass on your way to the Retreat. In the winter, it's the closest hotel to the Lee Canyon ski resort. Dining options at the Retreat include three different places to grab a bite. Overall, I would rate the service and location both a 5 out of 5. The hotel offers lovely views and a romantic, peaceful atmosphere, all at a great value.
Stunning sunset views—a must-see! Hotel highlights: Amazing scenery and family-friendly atmosphere.
This restaurant offers stunning views of the majestic mountains. The waitstaff provided quick, friendly, and knowledgeable service. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between rustic and elegant. The food was prepared quickly and was delicious, with generous portion sizes at very reasonable prices. Overall, I would rate it as follows: Rooms: 5, Service: 5, Location: 5.
We initially booked a third floor room with a balcony, as we were so excited to be in the mountains with a balcony! When we arrived, I asked the front desk clerk if the hotel had an elevator and was surprised to find out they did not. To be fair, that's my mistake for not researching the property further, as stairs are a challenge for my partially-handicapped father. As soon as I mentioned this to the front desk staff, they were quick to work on getting us a first floor room for easier access for my dad. I felt like they truly went above and beyond to make us as comfortable and satisfied as possible. They were literally running around the property to check on rooms for us, and I was so immensely grateful for their dedication. The manager Brandy was so efficient and kind, along with Gabriel and Kim. All three of them were just wonderful. I truly can't say enough good things about their customer service and kindness. We were so pleased with the room and service that we received. Brandy even checked in with me as I was retrieving our bags from the car to make sure we were happy. Gabriel was friendly and dedicated to making our stay a good one. Kim was fantastic and even gave us freebie coffees in the morning. The restaurant was good and priced fairly. The chili was AMAZING and the BBQ pork sandwich was tasty. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful. Make sure you get up in time to see the sunrise down in the valley. Thanks again to the awesome staff at the Retreat for making our stay so memorable! Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5
