We had today’s specials; hubby had grilled cheese ham on a pretzel bun, white truffle fries. I had the seared tuna and seaweed salad. Only half a mile off the interstate and worth the stop if you are driving through!
I've been to the ice a handful of times, and it just got worse and worse ... for some reason I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that they would get better , this time the excuse was they were all just on vacation, new cook, the food truck never came and the dog ate their homework.... I do give it to the waitress she was slammed and the only one working ... they were out SOOOO much food ! Even after we orded items we were just settling for they came out 45 min later to tell me what I ordered they didn't have . After waiting an hour and 45 min on a 93° day with no AC in the dining room , I didn't even want my food. Before the food even came we asked for it to be bagged up to go and our check. No discount was even offered, just excuses ... then the disappointment of the food came once I got home and finally ate at 845pm , the salmon was so over cooked and had absolutely no flavor . Most likely will not return !!
The Ice House has brought in a new chef, and it's made a huge difference. After a decade of excellent food, the place lost some of its luster with the new kitchen staff. It's nice to see them back on their game. My Ruben and fries were excellent, and my friends enjoyed Taco Tuesday very much.
We stopped here as first time guests on a recommendation of friends who were with us. Everything started with a frantic waitress but in all fairness a party of ten just dropping in could be a bit unexpected, it took a while to get our drinks , all drinks including from the bar were pretty good, we ordered food and that’s when it went down hill. My wife and daughter ordered chicken Caesar wraps, I ordered beef pot pie with a side salad, never got the salad until after I ate my pot pie . The pot pie was more like a bowl of dinty Moore soup with a piece of bread on top. The waitress brought the dressing out and said it was for my pot pie I said to her “ no it’s for my salad I never got” she then asked what salad I ordered. I was confused by that since my meal included a side salad according to the menu Then after that they came out stating that they didn’t have wraps for my wife and daughters meal. They did ask if they wanted something else for which they declined, then within a few minutes she comes out and slides a plate of chicken with some Caesar dressing on it and offers that in place of the wrap, that was declined also. One of the families with us mother and son) ordered Mac and cheese, which looked good but again the waitress came out and asked if the son would be ok with penne noodles because they ran out of elbow noodles. They don’t know what food they have in stock to make meals, they seem confused with the items on the menu and what they offer as meals. They bring out one meal at a time as if they cook only cooks one at a time, so everyone waits while one or two people eat, then as most are finishing their meal they come out and tell the rest that they don’t have what is needed to make their meals. Horrible experience and do not recommend this place. The experience was laughable at best. We were there just under two hours, the dining room was very warm, and we were served excuse after excuse as to why they didn’t have the food that was ordered. I feel bad for the wait staff as they are at the mercy of kitchen staff, management, and an owner that don’t know what they are doing. I don’t expect this place to be open too much longer unless a lot changes. They need to decide if this is just a bar or do they want to get real and run a successful bar/ restaurant. Best of luck but I will never be back.
Excellent food! I love their New England clam chowder and pizza!
