Jalapenos Mexican Food - Nanaimo

Saying Jalapeño’s is a hidden gem is an understatement. They’re tucked away next to a gas station in a tiny building a little off the beaten path. But if you enjoy authentic Mexican food and find yourself in Nanaimo, make them one of your stops.The restaurant is cute and very reminiscent of diners in Mexico, with knick-knacks on the walls, tables draped with colourful tablecloths, and light Spanish tunes playing in the background. The staff is friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. The food? Hot, fresh, full of authentic flavour, and priced nicely. Try the enchiladas rancheras. You won’t regret it.I come to the Island from time to time for work and find always find it difficult to locate decent eats. I’m so happy I was introduced to Jalapeño’s… my new favourite place to go.

Tacos were ready fast I’ll give them that. I got two chicken and two pulled pork. The pork ones were ok. The chicken ones, terrible! My taco was falling apart. Not even cooked I feel. And the chicken isn’t giving me chicken vibes. Don’t recommend the chicken tacos at all. I came to this spot wanting authentic tasty tacos it was highest rated but I am disappointed.

Man I tell you this place is awesome. The family that run it are just beautiful people. Taco salad is great. Tacos are great. I can't remember what it's called but it comes to your table sizzling on a hot pan, soooo cool and tasty. Parking is a little awkward but so worth it! Enjoy.

Amazing, authentic Mexican food. Quaint little venue, very basic set up, food was fantastic and fast. Super accommodating for a gluten allergy. Can't wait to go back

The colours, the music, the delicious food being served....I as brought back to my trips to Mexico. Miguel and his wife are from Northern Mexico on the River Grande. The food all around us looked and smelled wonderful. We ordered Quesadillas con Carne Asada and Pork Carnitas with rice, beans, salad corn tortillas. Both were so good. Drinks were ice cold but expensive $3.49 for a can of pop...they did provide ice when asked. The service was great and they were very friendly. We will definitely return again, as we witnessed so many return customers stream in and out for takeout or sit in! Highly recommend.
