Decided for fresh sandwich from the extensive list. They also sell a wide range of teas and coffee for home use and give expert advice on the various choices available.
A friend who lives near Neu-Ulm brought me here when I requested some proper Swabian food. The certificates on the wall let you know that the same family has been winning accreditations for several generations. I had a Kalbsrahmschniztel with Butter Spatezle. The veal was seared to firmness on the outside and the sauce was creamy and rich and perfect for soaking up the bowl of delectable bright yellow Spaetzle. It comes with a small salad in which the Kartofelsalat is hiding at the bottom of a green salad. The Schwabisch take on potato salad has the potatoes almost pureed and in a sour, vinagery dressing. Really flavousome. The veal goes nicely with a glass of the local red wine, Trollinger (if you're craving a Barolo, don't order Trollinger. It is a very ight red). A truly satisfying meal made with care (the chef comes to the table and asks if you’re enjoying your lunch) and surprisingly cheap for the quality.
If you enter the Posthorn you might be distracted from the out-aged ambiente. But the food is simply excellent. Great steaks, asian influences and typical regional dishes are served by the chief himself in a very friendly way. If we have guests the Posthorn is always one of our first choices.
I love the Posthorn, I go every year I go back to Germany, I was born in Landsberg am Lech I just found my birth mother in 2007 and I now have family in Augsburg, where my mother settled from Lansberg am Lech years ago 1958. I have a sister, a nephew and 2 nieces, so now I go to Germany once a year.
Recently ordered the Schnitzel Wiener-Art and the Hirsch. Very delicious! Prices for these portions are more than fair and the staff was very nice:
