Unfortunately, we had to walk out as we were not allowed to sit at a table. The settees were full and we were told to sit on the bar stools. However, my 79 year old mother has mobility issues and would not get on a bar stool. It was a shame that we wanted to spend money here but the girl on the till was rude and did not want to accommodate us even though there were tables to do so.
Franco and the staff always give us a warm welcome at this wonderful cafe, We have been going to New Biggin for about 6 years now and this cafe is always the first place we visit. Stepping in you feel like you are travelling back in time it is a pure art deco gem. The cakes and coffee are amazing as is the ice cream!!
The café is a great looking Art Deco building but sadly the service we received was slow and smile-free. Told to Wait at the end of the counter for your order to be served. Waited for a very long time before the simple order was ready.
Lovely cafe right by the seaside and promenade in Newbiggin by the Sea. We stayed in the maisonette above the cafe for a few days, which was perfect. The cafe itself was spotless and very popular, serving a variety of light bites, such as sausage or bacon sandwiches, panini, and soup, as well a great selection of home made cakes, and simply delicious ice creams!, and of course, hot and cold drinks. Very friendly staff. The Bertorellis have owned and run the cafe for generations. We would be regulars if we lived in the area.
