Le Cabanon - Orsières

After a stroll around the small lake, it was a pleasure to sit here and watch the lake and the ducks and while an hour or so away in the sun over a Valais plate of chacuterie and cheese with a glass of wine. I popped in for a coffee the next morning while waiting for the bus prompt and efficient service.

This is really a cafe with restaurant prices. I can’t understand why it has the ratings that it does. Whilst it has a great view over the lake, it is overpriced and the portions are slim. We had a cheese omelette with salad and for the price expected something a bit special. We had a runny omelette and the salad had a very tart dressing on it that caught the back of your throat. We had to ask twice for water so service here isn’t particularly good either. And the final thing that did it for me was the number of flies buzzing round as we ate.

Enchanting place by the lake. Warm welcome and excellent cuisine. We have never been disappointed in years. BRAVO for enjoying us.

The restaurant is unassuming and seemingly a local stop off. The food is by far the best I have ever eaten anywhere. Incredible, interesting- just WOW! By pass the fancier looking locales and come for the best meal of your life!

Great place, the only problem was twice on site, once for an aperitif and the other time to eat and the waiter during the bill forgot both times to tip part of the order so really not nice to have to ask for something.
