Barallete - Ourense

Ofrecen tapas a todos menos a los turistas y, además, cuando las pides te las cobran. They offered tapas to everyone except to the tourists. Also, when we asked for them they charged us. Then, with jokes they try to get away with it. Definitely not recommended.

We were looking for a restaurant with outside dining and came upon this place. It was early ~8:15 PM) and we asked if they were serving dinner outside at that time. They were and we sat down. Service is attentive but the waitstaff is spread rather thin. One waiter is in charge of marketing tapas to the folks sitting at the large wine barrels and taking orders for main dishes as well. We ordered the following: cazuela de setas, langostinos y carpaccio de pulpo sepia plancha con emulsion de lima y cilantro ensalada de rucula, pera, manzana y virutas de parmesano The portions were fairly generous and very tasty. We ordered a bottle of white wine Goda Albariño 2017) which went fairly quickly. To finish off the food, we needed a bottle of red Joaquín Rebolledo Mencía 2017). Both wines were good and reasonably priced. Three things to note: 1. This a tapas oriented place so they tend to think you want glasses not bottles when you order wine; 2. They don't take credit cards cash only; and 3. They don't serve coffee. But the café down the praza serves good expresso and gives a nice modest) glass filled with a pudding parfait with coffee orders. This place is worth trying.

Don't bother to order a meal, just try the tapas as they are offered. All are excellent and then added to your bill at the end of the evening. Service very good.

Domingo después de samaín, Orense lleno, sin reserva… nos acabamos sentando en un local con sitio y poco más. Tampoco se podía esperar demasiado y así fue, croquetas congeladas, pulpo y zamburiñas normalitas, carrilleras decentes (siempre fueron agradecidas). Nada destacable, ni para bien ni para mal. Me hubiera gustado conocer otros locales con más personalidad.

Vimos que te dieron pinchazos en las mesas pero no tuvimos suerte y no nos ofrecieron. Pedimos a uno de los que tenían suficiente para ofrecernos y nos cobraron. Así que no sé si están libres. Eso era muy rico si y abundante. el delicioso postre.
