Avaliação da contribuiçãoSave yourselves! Utterly appalling service. Ordered a bottle of Viognier, waiter brought out a bottle of Chardonnay and seemed disappointed when I noticed and he had to tell me that was all they had. One starter arrived once everyone else had finished; one main arrived when everyone else had finished. My spoon arrived after my ice cream had melted. Seafood related dishes actually alright, but chicken a la chef was like a cheap chow mien. Save your cash!
You have to know where to go in Palavas to have a good meal. At lunchtime, if you want to stay around the beach side of the canal, you either have to spend a fair bit of money (20€ for a main) or have a snack. A lot of places are touristy traps with overpriced plats du jour etc. In that context, the New Port was a good solution. I wouldn 't go there in the evening nor for a nice meal. I wouldn 't go for the a la carte option as it 's pretty obvious they won 't do nice dishes. But their lunch menu (available all week except Sunday and bank holidays) at 16€ is ok. I 'm not sure ingredients are fresh and a few might be from frozen. But it tastes decent, service is quick and friendly, and the three course meal is half the price of the mains on the beach/canal. We had the chèvre chaud starter which is what it says on the menu, three toasts with melted goat cheese on top of a dressed salad. Nothing to write home about but I like melted goat cheese and the salad was refreshing. Fine. Then I had the saumon a la plancha while my husband had the daurade. Both came with rice and nice sautéed vegetables. Again, fine. The fish wasn 't the tastiest and I suspect it might have been from frozen (which indeed is a shame so close to the sea but not surprising for the price) but as a main it tasted ok. Salmon had maybe a bit too much olive oil on top but that 's a detail. We had île flottante as dessert. It strangely came in a glass and I don 't think the custard was homemade but again it was fine. Basically, I wouldn 't go there on purpose or ever go a la carte. But if you 're hungry and are looking for a cheap and ok option, you should be fine here.
It is quite because expensive of the nice central location but menus give a good idea of local food and are affordable. The la carte dishes are expensive but the menus give a good idea of local cuisine and are affordable. Average quality Good.
At one time in the past, this was a very nice restaurant...it has gone downhill, probably with a change of ownership..first of all very tattered on the outdoor patio, broken lantern hanging down with electric exposed to the elements...very dirtly...cushions on chairs are stained, tables dirty! As for the food...the menu sounds convincing and everything promised to be made in their kitchen?? If it is, they have a very bad kitchen...what we were served seemed to be leftovers from lunch or the day before!! Our starters of a small seafood platter, with unedible dried up raw mussels, extra petite bulots that were very old and dry, and previously frozen shrimp! Told the waiter we did not want mussels, but they brought those anyway...we declined to eat them they were so awful looking..brown and slimy...asked for huitres that the waitress said were on the platter, but didn 't receive them! Another starter of an Aumoniere of Chevre was a small twisted packet of a crisp pastry, with a very very petite slice of Chevre, the size of a thin quarter, with a small blob of fig, not good at all. and Mache salad absolutely swimming in colorless Canola oil...I told the waiter I was terribly allergic to Canola oil and he said but it is Olive Oil... that was a lie...I told him to bring a salad naked and bring olive oil vinegar...which he did...Canola oil is the cheapest and the worst oil, which every restaurant here in France and in the USA is using it as it is very cheap compared to Olive Oil...read the google reports on it!! Lots of chemical addivites and bleaching!! Very Bad sideeffects within 10-20 minutes for me and most friends who dine out all the time! On to the main courses...Steak and Frits which were enjoyable as the steak was not tough as most French steaks...But the side vegetable was a horrible looking half of an eggplant (aubergine), baked at sometime during the month, and slathered with tomato paste and a dense mat of hard mozzarella on top!! Yuck..it was dark brown underneath the sauce and all the way to the bottom as my fork revealed!! Very old and bad tasting!! We did not eat that veggie, and told the waitress about its nastiness, so she defended it and vociferously mentioned several times that it is a favorite of customers!! Maybe if it is made fresh it might be palatable!! The other main dish was their made in house Ravioli in a Pesto sauce...and of course it was undercooked, very dense and hard, and no pesto sauce evident!!. Again it seemed to have been made some time ago and just reheated. Tasteless, so that was rejected, and another Steak Frites ordered after a bit of arguing that everyone loves it!! The Steak Frites had to be made Fresh, as they could not have been premade and heated up, so they were good...but again the awful looking Aubergine on the side which was rejected..! No onto the very very petite desserts...my Panna Cotta came in a small glass, very evident it was refrigerated without a cover as the top had that wrinkly skin that moist foods develop! Then the Test of a good, not a great Panna Cotta, is the texture...as my spoon entered the white body with great effort, I decided that this must be an old white jello as the texture was stiff and my small spoon was impaled in the mass! The taste..what taste?? a slight flavor of vanilla, but totally ruined by the texture...set that one aside also! The other dessert was Nutella/Hazelnut mousse, which was tasty but the smallest dab to be found in any restaurant dessert dish!! So...all in all, we will not be back ever ! And reading more of the most recent reports, I wish we had read them before we dined there! Used to be a very good restaurant years in the past..very disappointed !!.
Menu seems rich, but actually tasteless food, waitress place settings right on dirty tables. Very bad management. You will never return here.
