Having tried the food at The White Lion in April, following the refurb, we were sadly left less than impressed. Having been told of a new chef at The White Lion in July, we decided to give the food another try. Today we ate there, and we were more than pleasantly surprised, the food was fantastic! I would highly recommend the Sunday roast platter. You get 3 generous servings of different meats, cooked to your liking. Lots of fresh veggies, mashed potatoes, roasties and homemade Yorkshire puddings. The portion sizing was more than generous, and all at a reasonable price. Roll on next Sunday!!!
We visited the White Lion again about 3 weeks ago. There was a great atmosphere and you could tell that Adam and Paul have been working hard. We telephoned to say that we were on our way, and could they save us some food as we were hungry. I had the burger and my friend had the bbq chicken pitta. I was not disappointed, the food was lovely. In the evening there was an 80s and 90s act on for Adams birthday. It was a great night. We met many of the locals, whom were all welcoming and chatty. The pub has been done up and looks lovely. As per our visit last time, we stand by our review that nothing is too much trouble. The area is lovely. I can't wait to come back and try the lasagne. See you soon boys, Keep up the hard work
Not many pubs left like this one. A great old fashioned boozer which gives good service, good beer and a great welcome.
Tried to come to this pub with my friends for a drink before we went into town, unfortunately we got told to leave before we’d even entered the premises. We are all of age but wasn’t even asked that question before we entered. When asked why we needed to leave we were told ‘ta ra’. We were treated unfairly and judged on our age. I feel solely disappointed.
